A few years ago, I received an HP look alike from Amazon that was fake. My money was returned immediately, but I did not know it was fake until I called HP. I like to keep a spare on hand. There is a nearly invisible expiration date on the front of each cartridge. Last year I received one from Amazon that was within 3 months of expiring. When I tried it for the first time but after Amazon's 30-day return policy, I discovered HP's warranty was expired as well. This was my first acquaintance with toner expiration dates. When I installed this new cartridge, I kept receiving a message that it was out of toner. After considerable conversation with Amazon, I did receive an 80% refund, given that it was defective from the start. Why would this model increase in price by nearly $100 in less than 6 months? I had to pay that much more when I replaced the defective cartridge. These cartridges are so expensive, consumers should not be at risk. I've had bad luck with refills in years past at work, so I prefer to buy the brand name cartridges.

What I don't like is the high price but one of my HP M506 printers will not use an offbrand refill. Two others will. This one printer goes into spastic mode and says Not genuine HP cartridge. The other two work well with less expensive cartridges and print just as good and just as many pages. So I have to buy this cartridge for this one printer. It would be less expensive in the long run to replace the printer which I am going to do.

I tried once on an older printer a compatible cartridge, it did not go well. The compatible cartridge leaked so I returned it. Since then I always do original new cartridges. These come sealed, twice, the box has a seal, the inner packaging comes sealed. The cost is more but quality printing is a priority for my work. Such a small cartridge and the yield is very high justas stated on the box.

This toner is pricey It works but is there something cheaper that works as well?

normally i buy this stuff from big box stores but as the printers get older less and less carry. price decent and prime delivery thanks!
