First impression: great cleanup head shaver
As many other reviewers have said, it works well. Note there are three colors of the exact same product that get different reviews, but I would imagine if they would be very similar. So far, my favorite use is as a cleanup head shaver after a regular shave to get your whole head BBS. As one reviewer notes, the thing that makes it inexpensive is also the thing that makes it good: only one blade head. I have other, much more expensive electric razors with multiple heads, and they’re limited because they can’t be used at angles. This can , and it makes it both easier and more effective. It is really small though, so I don’t see it replacing a main razor. Maybe as a travel razor if you use it every day and don’t have a thick beard. I love that it uses batteries too. And again as another reviewer said, it’s made in Japan and is a great example of Japanese quality and design. For the negligible price, it’s a great add. UPDATE: I was considering dropping a star because the power switch was so hard to operate. But then I found there is a small button between the words on and off that is a lock. You have to press it down for it to turn on, I believe so that it won’t accidentally turn on. Of course, if I could have read Japanese, I would have seen it in the instructions which were only provided in Japanese. Nothing wrong with that because the description states this is a Japanese market shaver. Either way, it’s nice there’s a lock, and just know that there is one.

Tiny and useful, great razor from a reputable consumer products company
This is an amazing battery-electric travel razor! Panasonic products are a well-known entity…not some hard-to-pronounce company you’ve never heard of before. In fact, this little gem is actually still manufactured in Japan which to me means a lot from a quality standpoint. It’s tiny, lightweight even with 2 AA batteries in it, shaves well (albeit if you have a heavier beard you may need to allow some add’l shave time as two passes makes for a closer shave) Mine is now almost 3 years old, has travelled extensively, and been used heavily at home too, it still works like new. I have “gifted” a few of these to grateful recipients. If you travel, or are in business and wish a quick midday “touch-up” before a meeting or important presentation, put one in your glovebox or desk drawer. I don’t think you can go wrong. This is one of my favorite travel accoutrements!

It has its pluses and minuses
This is a well made, handy little shaver that’s great for travel, or even home use. The only reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 is that it doesn’t shave me quite as close as the Panny 3831K I bought at the same time. I looked at all the reviews here and on the web for a small travel shaver. Ideally I wanted a wet/dry shaver that was well rated, and the 3831K ticked all the boxes there. But I really liked what I saw for this tiny RS10, even if it wasn’t washable. Sure enough it shaves very nicely with either a powder or a liquid pre-shave. It’s also highly maneuverable because of its small size. Even with its small size it has a nice, solid feel. But since I wanted something I could just run under a hotel faucet for cleaning, I also got the 3831K. I tested both over several days by first shaving with one, and then doing another pass with the other, to see if it picked up anything the first didn’t. When I used this shaver first followed by the 3831K, the latter consistently did a better job of leaving a smooth finish. When I started with the 3831K, the RS10 had really nothing left to do on its pass. So either way it seems it didn’t shave me quite as close as the other. That’s not to say this is an unworthy shaver. It has its advantages. It is more maneuverable than the 3831K, as I said before. It also glides during shaving a bit more smoothly. Not sure how this can be, since it looks like both use the same foil. I can only guess the slight added bulk of the 3831K makes it a tiny bit more cumbersome for me to use. Which leads to the last point in favor of the RS10 - it’s way smaller than the other one, making it a perfect kit traveling shaver, if you don’t mind dry brushing to clean it. I’m keeping both. The RS10 shave is “close enough” for me, but the 3831K will probably get used more while traveling since it’s washable. Gotta love the RS10, though - it’s a nice piece of engineering!

Compact, Reliable, and Shockingly Good for a Travel Shaver
I picked up the Panasonic ES‑RS10‑S as a lightweight travel shaver, and it has quickly become one of my favorite “throw‑in‑the‑bag” grooming tools. For something this small and simple, it performs way better than expected. Ultra‑Portable and Perfect for Travel This thing is tiny — smaller than most electric shavers and barely bigger than a deck of cards. It fits easily in a dopp kit, backpack, or even a jacket pocket. Because it runs on 2 AA batteries, there’s no charger to pack, no voltage worries, and no bulky cables. Surprisingly Smooth Shave For a compact DC‑powered shaver, the performance is impressive. It gives a clean, comfortable shave Works well for daily stubble Doesn’t tug or pull The foil stays cool and gentle on the skin It’s not meant to replace a full‑size premium shaver, but for travel, gym bags, or quick touch‑ups, it’s perfect. Quiet, Efficient, and Easy to Maintain The motor is quieter than most travel shavers I’ve used. The foil pops off easily for cleaning, and replacement parts are available since this is a popular Japan‑market model. Battery life is great — a pair of AAs lasts much longer than expected, especially with alkaline batteries. Classic Panasonic Build Quality Even though it’s small, it feels solid. The sliding power switch, foil guard, and overall construction feel like something built to last, not a cheap throwaway gadget. What I Love Most Extremely compact and lightweight Runs on AA batteries (no charger needed) Smooth, comfortable shave for a travel model Quiet and efficient Easy to clean and maintain Great build quality for the price What Could Be Better Not ideal for thick or multi‑day growth No included travel pouch Japan‑market packaging may confuse some buyers Bottom Line If you want a simple, reliable, ultra‑portable shaver for travel, the gym, or emergency touch‑ups, the Panasonic ES‑RS10‑S is a fantastic choice. It’s compact, well‑built, and delivers a surprisingly good shave for something powered by two AA batteries. Highly recommended for frequent travelers.

Pretty much...WOW!
I have a $200 or so Braun electric shaver...I forget, the series 9 something. In any case been traveling much more these days and finding my regular sized Braun takes up too much room, too heavy, also have to bring the charger. I wanted a very small DECENT shaver for travel and to put in my carry on luggage. Took a chance on this Panasonic shaver and I kind of thought maybe it will work...but from some negative reviews I saw maybe it will barely work and or is it really made in Japan? not China? Well I purposely did not shave for three days knowing this Panasonic shaver was going to be delivered. It is TINY like maybe about 3 inches tall/1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. I put in two rechargeable AA's in it and off I went to test it. All I can say is WOW, to how well it worked/works. I have NO idea how some reviews stated it barely cut well or, it was made in China...The box clearly says made in Japan and it's also right on the back of the shaver. What to really say here. It's tiny....it gave me a CLOSER shave than my $200 bulky Braun, and I am blown away that it works as well as it does for about just $18!! haha, I am actually looking forward to shaving again because this thing works so well. As to longevity, I can not say yet, but if it lasts a while...this is maybe the best $20-ish I have spent on Amazon all year. On a side note, I'm no brand fan boy of ANY brand, but I have NEVER had any Panasonic ANYTHING from cameras to a rice cooker die on me. They must have GREAT QC overall..as the brand is so solid esp. vs all those new no name brands from Asia...you know. I do wish it had a trimer like a larger Braun travel shaver but that Braun looks nearly twice this size and my purpose was to find the smallest electric shaver possible. I am simply wowed by this thing. If it does die on me too soon, I'll update this review...so far...I am amazed at this little guy esp. vs it's price point!!

Great razor for the price but flops at cutting some hairs.
I wanted a very small but inexpensive battery-powered razor so I could take it backpacking, and this Panasonic AA battery-powered razor fits that need very well. It's small in height and width and it's very thin, plus it's lightweight, so it packs into my backpack extremely well. It shaves decent enough, it's not going to shave as close as a blade but shaves good enough. No electric razor, no matter what they advertise, can shave as close as a blade. I've owned large expensive rotary and foil razors and they simply cannot compete with a blade, and neither can this little Panasonic. Since the Panasonic only has one cutting foil, it will take several passes to get to chop the beard down, large triple foil razors do a better job, but still won't be as close as a blade. Foil-type razors do cut closer than a rotary type, not much closer but closer. So if you need something small for travel and or camping this is the perfect solution. My only quips about it is the foil blade cover, the cover is not very secure at all, and it came off inside my backpack, so I now put a rubber band over the top of the cover and around the razor to hold in place. The cost to do this minor correction would be very small, but this has been a problem with this razor for a very long time, and Panasonic knows about it but has refused to correct it. The other problem, which isn't a big problem, but they should have made this razor waterproof so a person could use it in the shower, or rinse it under running water, but they do include a brush, so you can brush the blade clean. The last quip is the brush, there should have been some way that the brush could attach firmly to the razor, instead, it's just loose, so the rubber band I use to hold the cover on also holds the brush against the body of the razor so I don't lose it. The brush already has a hole in the center, so why wasn't there a round male molded plastic plug sticking out of the rear face of the razor so that the brush would just press in firmly and stay in place? Those are minor quips, but all of them can be remedied cheaply, the only thing that might make the razor a tad more expensive is making it waterproof, but I think the added expense would be worth it, the other two shouldn't cost anything to make them work correctly so they don't get lost. That's why I gave the razor 4 stars, if they ever decide to fix those simple-to-fix issues it would get a 5-star rating. I can't take off anything for the closeness of the shave, because I knew when I bought it that a single foil wasn't going to cut as close as a 4 foil with far better blades like the Panasonic Arc 5 has. So, buy it for travel, buy it for camping, but don't buy it for everyday use thinking you're going to get a close shave for work, if you need that sort of shaver get the Panasonic Arc 5, or better yet buy a Rockwell 6C for an incredibly close and smooth shave.

Better than my home shaver
Incredible shave from a tiny lightweight shaver. Nearly better than my corded shaver at home. Shaved everyday for a week and still had power in the batteries. Really top quality. Close shave, easy to clean and pack.

The good and the bad, but not the ugly
This razor provides a good cut, where it cuts, but I will get to that in a moment. It has been years since I have used an electric razor . . . ok probably 15 of them . . . and if this is an inexpensive travel variant, I may give them another look. I normally use a safety razor, it seems I get less irritation over a normal razor; but I had a longer international flight coming up and I didn't want to have to carry safety razor blades and shaving cream through airport security (carry on only). So I purchased this. Let me start with the cut: I would rate it great, in the morning when I shaved I could not tell the difference between this cut and my normal shave, but by the evening this was noticeably rougher, but still acceptable. As I alluded to earlier here is where I ran into trouble: first, I have a fast growing beard and whereas with a normal razor missing a stray hair here or there would be no problem (they would be addressed by the next day's shave and would not be noticeable until then) with this razor on the second day a missed hair would often be too long to reliably be cut by this razor. And second, and this varies by person, this razor simply did not fit me, while my face was fine and problem free, my next and jaw simply did not conform to the razor's needs; this meant multiple passes and extended time spent on the area in attempt to avoid missing a hair here or there (see the first point). These may not be an issue for you, maybe your hair grown slower or your face is a better fit for this razor in which case you will be fine. As for me I will continue to use this razor as a travel razor for an overnight or weekend trip, but will not use it for an extended trip; on my extended trip I ended up with a disposable razor to "touch-up" after this razor every few days. Battery life: I have to rate it excellent, I used this razor every day for over a month with a thick quick growing beard and it is still ready for more. I did use a name brand set of batteries, your milage may vary based upon your batteries. Get a rubber band: Now for my biggest problem, the plastic protective guard it comes with down not stay in place; this coupled with the thin foil is a recipe for damage. Sure enough about half way through my trip the guard got loose off while packed during a travel day and the edge of the foil was bent. I managed to press the dent out with the rounded back end of a pair of tweezers and resumed use. I also used a rubber band to prevent this from reoccurring.

Fantastic pocket shaver
If you're expecting this to be a heavy duty, full sized shaver, you'll be disappointed. This is simply a small pocket shaver — handy for frequent travellers who need a quick touch up on that 2-day stubble. This shaver is about the same size as two Zippo lights (see the photos I added). If anyone remembers those Japanese made gadgets and electronics from the 80s and early 90s, this shaver will give you good hit of nostalgia. It has 80s written all over it. It's also very well made and very easy to use. What's included? The shaver, protector cap, cleaning brush and paperwork. No batteries included unfortunately (it takes 2 X AA cells). This thing is awesome. Grab one.
