Yes you can get cheaper rollers. But a physio friend lent me one of these Blackrolls a few years ago to help plantar fasciitis, and it was cured in about 4 months. I then gave that back and bought a cheaper roller, just to keep my plantar tendons exercised. It was fine, not quite as good, so I bought my own Blackrolls. There is honestly a difference, Blackrolls seem to get right into those spots to bring that feeling of extreme relief that cheaper rollers don't quite hit. I travel weekly with long days on my feet and often need some relief for tight plantars, this is always in my suitcase for those moments and it takes up no room.

After over a decade of chronic tendonosis in my wrists/forearms, I spent years and lots of money on various treatments. Lots of physios, acupuncture. I like to climb and play guitar a bit but found that I would always fatigue quickly and would have to stop. Finally a physio recommended I get this a couple of years ago and with regular rolling, my arms are now better then they have ever been. Now I can stop climbing because I've had enough rather than that my arms are fatiguing. I've also found it excellent for targeting tension in my upper back (rolling it between the spine and the shoulder blade), and my feet sometimes need a good roll after running. Just get it.
