Silver. But wallpapers are given of various shades. The lights are not powerful enough. So not happy with the purchase personally.

Can you take pictures from the bottom as well for a low profile object?

Depends on the wide angle lens you have as there is no cut out to place the camera from out if u want to place the cam outside. Once if you have the lighting set u can shoot from top( lighting set on sides ) or from the side ( lighting set on top)
