The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy

Be aware that this is a region 1 blu ray set which means that it is a US region and not Europe. The feature films play fine on my PS4 Pro but the bonus material discs do not play at all. I’m not too bitter as I just wanted the films

I’m disappointed - The listing photos clearly showed a slipcase for this expensive 4K box set, but it arrived without one. For a premium item, accurate photos and complete packaging are expected. This was misleading and not what I paid for.

The DVD extras didn’t play on my blu ray.

The Blue Ray discs with the film are Ok but all the extra DVDs (9 in all) are region 1 and can't be played on a UK DVD player.

Discs wouldn't play, this is incredibly frustrating. I didn't think discs with regions were still a thing. Its 2023!!

Do not buy, none of the discs work so can't play anything!!

The LOTR Trilogy is a franchise that I will recommend to anyone until the day I die and I leave it in my will that all my descendants have to watch and read this series because there is literally nothing that compares to it. Tolkien and his world walked so every other fantasy franchise could run. I would recommend this to any naysayers, anyone who "hates" fantasy, anyone who balks the the time frame for both theatrical and extended releases. You could convert anyone to this franchise. As a millennial my formative years were occuring when these movies first released and it is partly in thanks to Tolkien that I am the person I am today. He helped give birth to my imagination, and filled it with all the fantastical things I could dream of while also showing me that there is dark and evil out there as well and how to distinguish between the two. It taught me nuance and that things are not black and white. It made me fall in love with flawed characters and realize that no one is perfect, even heroes. Characters you start off hating you'll love by the end, and you will come out a changed person. Do not let the run time stop you, it seems daunting but when you are experiencing it the time flies in because you get absolutely sucked in and emotionally invested in every characters stories. You will be broken and battered by the end of it, but in the best way possible. First time watch, theatrical release first, and then the extended editions every time after that. In peter Jackson's own words "the theatrical release is made by Peter Jackson the producer, while the extended is by Peter Jackson the fan"

Beware, if like me, you’re trying to buy a version with Japanese subtitles, but don’t fear, they are there. This 4K version continues the bizarre Warner Bros DVD style of hiding it’s Japanese subtitles, and only making them visible if you go into your player’s menu and change the blu-ray menu settings to Japanese. This is very easy once you know about it, but if nobody tells you, you would have no idea. Keep in mind also that the Japanese audio and subtitles are only available on the extended editions (not on the theatrical versions for some reason). Hope this helps someone in future. The 4K transfer itself is absolutely amazing, crystal clear video and stunning audio. Well worth the money for a true fan.

Note well : All 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray drives on a PC require Intel SGX (Software Guard Extensions - special new Intel CISC CPU instructions.) This means they will generally NOT play on an AMD CPU system. Cyberlink PowerDVD does not mention this, nor does Scorptec, nor do these LOTR disks. (I was finally able to play my copy on my AMD PC by using a certain 3rd party video program, and a standard Blu-ray drive and some hours of fiddling around.)

Purtroppo ho dovuto rendere l'articolo in quanto per un mio errore non avevo notato la mancanza dell'italiano tra le lingue di riproduzione. Ho comunque ordinato e ricevuto la versione con l'audio anche in Italiano.
