We didn't know what to do about our 15 year old GE dryer. It was leaving black marks on clothes and making a loud squeal/scrape sound intermittently. Looked into the problem and found this repair kit. Once we took apart the front of the dryer (4 screws easy to access), it was clear the plastic slides and housing were the problem. Lots of black residue powder on the drum and housing, the top of the plastic housing was worn thin in spots, and 2 of the 4 slides had disintegrated. The belt, felt gasket and idler pulley were fine so those were discarded from the kit. The housing in the kit is not as thick or robust as the original, but the original was worn through and cracked along the top where it mates with the front panel, so out it went. Job took maybe 15 minutes tops and that's with rereading the instructions. Cleaned everything thoroughly before reassembling. The dryer is now working fine and sounding like it did when it was new.

Good replacement

Nice kit, it took about 2 hours to install. I had to drill out an additional 5/8" hole in the bearing flange for some extra sensor my dryer had connected in the path. The quality and operation are as good as new, just clean up the dryer before installation of the new kit and it will fit nicely. Watch a YouTube video, Appliance Parts Pro was most informative.
