I had a very bad experience with the Whitman Sampler. A third of the chocolates were melted and misshapen, another third were discolored. As soon as I saw that I threw the box away. Save your money and pass. Sorry for the bad news.

Is it bad for the chocolates if put in the refrigerator?

Absolutely put them in the refrigerator. I ALWAYS put my chocolate in there. It keeps them fresher since I eat them slowly. I hope this helps.
