Very High-Quality And Rugged Spark Plug Sockets
Yes....reviews are correct. These things are a nightmare to remove. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. However, just watch the video to get a better idea how you can do it. I prefer my method after trying it out. Just break the plastic holder where the 13/16" Socket is located. You can see where it is partially indented there for where to break it. Then all of the other Sockets will slide to that opening and they can be removed easily from there. It makes for a great way to keep these Sockets organized if you do not do what the guy in the video did with a table Vice. These things are well built and Heavy-Duct for a very reasonable price. Glad I found these Sockets!

Fits my 2015 Suzuki S40
Powerbuilt 640855 3/8-Inch Drive Spark Plug Socket Set, 5-Piece The socket I was most concerned with was the 18mm. I didn't need the rest, but, for the price. The OD of the 18mm socket miked at .977” or 24.8158mm. Its 2 and 9/16'' long overall and 3/4” across the wrench flats at the top with a 3/8” drive. Its a little short as spark plug sockets go, but that was much preferred. The longer the socket the more chance of tilting and broken porcelain, at least that's been my experience. So this 18mm is just right. My bike is new, but I decided not to wait to check the plug knowing full well they don't use anti-seize at the factory. And its a good thing. The plug was extra tight (as was every damn screw and bolt on the bike) and came loose with a dry cracking sound. No problem with this six point 18mm. BTW, I would never use a 12 point on this bike, anywhere. The assemblers are maniacs. These sockets are well made and finished accordingly. Well worth the money. Note: you have to drift the plastic retainers out from the plug side. They are tight as hell. I had no problem with that, thanks to the many heads up posted here. A piece of cake.

Spark plug sockets worked fine with my one time use, so far
Powerbuilt 3/8-Inch Drive Spark Plug Socket Set, 6 Point, Deep Thin Wall, 5 Piece Metric and SAE These saved me $250. I only had to buy the spark plugs. I did need extenders for them, which I already had. They work well enough for occasional use and should last me a while, but I don't feel like they would last too long if used daily. They'd likely wear out much faster than something of higher quality. It was great for my purposes, since I don't have that many cars to work on.

Good for the price
These are good quality for the DIY'ers. For less than $3 each, you can't really complain. Sure, there's always an issue with every product but the good outweighs the bad on this one. Hence, the 4 stars rating. For those complaining about the package, yes, it could have been simpler so taking the socket from the package would be easier. My advice: 1. Get a screwdriver, flat head or not, that is small enough to slip into the socket and a hammer. 2. Hold the socket upside down, insert the screwdriver into the socket. 3. Hit 1-2 time, depending on how hard you hit, on the handle of the screwdriver and package should fall out. The package and rest of the sockets will fall so make sure you work over a table or have something soft to catch the falling package and sockets. Took me 2 seconds to get socket away from package. Do the same for all sockets. Done. For the rubber insert in the socket, yes, it does grab the spark plug a little tight. My advice: 1. If your finger is small enough, take a little die-electric and place it on the hole of the rubber insert. 2. If finger cannot fit into the socket, place the die-electric on the plastic part(near the thread) of the spark plug 3. Insert the spark plug a few times into the socket and you should feel it loosen. 4. Wipe away excess die-electric from spark plug before installing. For the socket not sticking to the extension when installing, here's my advice: 1. Take the extension and place it into the socket. Take masking tape and wrap it once or twice on the socket and extend the masking tape to the extension. Now, The two pieces won't come apart when trying to pull the socket and extension from the engine. I wiggle the extension and socket a little as I pull up on it. Hope this helps those that are looking for a little help on this product. Thanks...

Worked Perfectly
Worked perfectly. I’m not sure what others are complaining about. It was hard-ish to get out of the packaging, but I was able to do it and reuse the packaging to keep them together.

Sturdy socket set to fit just about any size spark plug.
Solid, well-made set of five different size 6-point, deep spark plug sockets. Fits 3/8" drive rachets and tools. Each socket has internal rubber insert to protect plug terminals. All have wrenching nut heads on the outer ends for use in tight spaces. Sizes are stamped in large numbers and easily readable.

Excellent value
First off I'll say I had no issue removing these sockets from the plastic holder. I'm not sure if the packaging has changed since those reviews were posted but now the sockets pull right off with a little force, no need to snap them off the holder or anything like that. Now for the sockets themselves they seem nice especially given the price. The rubber insert really holds the spark plugs tight so they don't fall out but not so tight you can't easily remove the socket. I would absolutely buy these again if I had to.

I ordered this set for one reason: complete my existing tooling with the 14 and 18mm sockets. I simply couldn’t find fast enough at a reasonable price a 14mm socket for Mazda 3 2.0 liters SkyActiv spark plugs. It was cheaper for me to buy this whole set instead of chasing a single hexagonal 6 sided 14mm socket. FYI; most 14 mm spark plug sockets are 12 points and are designed for German cars. ** Don’t ever use any of these 12 points sockets on a hexagonal keyway spark plug socket. The chances of rounding off the spark plug when removing it are not worth it.** I used some duct tape to fasten together the 14mm socket to a 6 inches 3/8 extension. This way, it’s simply impossible for the socket to stay attached to the plug down in the spark plug well when done torquing down the new plugs. Another thing that surprised me positively is the fact that the inner rubber attachment never came loose and stayed at the very bottom of the socket. Some cheaper spark plug sockets rubber inserts have a tendency to come loose and remain on the spark plugs or in your tool box… I wouldn’t hesitate to use these sockets again in the future whenever another spark plug jobs comes in the shop. I personally prefer magnetic spark plug sockets but this set is a lot better then what i was anticipating quality wise. *Update: i use the same setup for spark plugs removal/replacement on a more recent 2020 Mazda CX-5 with regular atmospheric 2.5 SkyActiv. Same great results and ease to work with this spark plug socket.

Good spark plug socket set, made in Taiwan. The anti theft holder they come with is indeed horrible and won't allow you to take the sockets off by hand. The trick is to stick a medium Phillips screwdriver in the socket from the open end, touch the plastic holder end with the tip of screwdriver (inside the socket) and hit the screwdriver on a hard surface or wood a few times. The sockets will then release in just a few seconds! ;) I tried a 14mm and a 5/8 spark plugs in those sockets and everything seems good. The plugs hold in the socket, but the tension still allows them to release without issue (like pulling out the plug holder from inside the socket). With these non-magnetic types of spark plug sockets, I tend to put a thin film of dielectric grease on plugs' porcelain and tip when installing, just to make sure the rubber boots don't come out. Anyway, for this price, it's a great buy. It pretty much has all the sizes you will need to remove and install spark plugs on big & small engines.
