Do not buy! Destroys driveway!
Completely thrashed my driveway and caused it to Pit out badly, drive way surface is crumbling where it was used.. I will be contacting the seller. Very upset to say the least. They will be making this right.UPDATE: Spoke with seller/Mfg directly and they said “Sorry, read the fine print on the bucket”. They absolutely didn’t care whatsoever and didn’t sound surprised that it even happened. Accused me of having an“Old” driveway being the issue and my driveway was 4 years old at the time.Avoid this product at all costs.

We have porch and small dog needed something to work well and fast.this was no help
Last night we put it down it did not melt or prevent ice to form and just still froze it over I'm not sure but we used 1/2 bucket already not satisfied at all with cost if we need to use so much of it to work even a little.

Best Paw Safe Ice Melt
Absolutely best Paw safe ice melt I have used. I've tried 4 other ones, this is the only one that seemed to work. I put it down before snow storms here in Wisconsin, works like a charm. I also use it after I shovel. You can hear it popping after you apply it. To open it (since apparently this is an issue with past reviews), you have to tear the tab all the way around the bucket (just like most other sealed buckets), I'll update the picture once I get my next bucket as to what that looks like. You are left with what's in the picture, yes it's still tight, but you can get it open.

How would I know? Couldn't get it open.
Looked on line and saw that perhaps 25% of the people had the same problem. Most said that, after several hours, they discovered three tabs that needed to be used with a screwdriver. Tried again. Couldn't find the tabs. Went on the Harris website. Nothing. These were not cheap, but as far as I know, I bought two 15-lbs buckets that could easily contain nothing but rocks. Will send them back for a refund, and I encourage everyone to seek some other product for pet-friendly ice melting products.

Can not open the tub
Having a hard time opening the package. Peeled the plastic ring off and can’t seem to open it!? What’s wrong with me?

Helps to lay this down the night before
This product works great at keeping the ice off my walkway. It is much more effective if you lay it down the night before a freeze but also works at melting the ice/snow that's already present. I love that it's pet/environment-friendly too.

Update! I couldn't open it! Not Amazon's fault.
Tossed it onto icy strip in driveway at 40 degrees and it wouldn't melt! Maybe I'm really missing the point of the Very Expensive and Heavy product? Next morning? Icy strip still there. Mailman carrying a box went around it.Earlier = Tried using a screwdriver to unwind the plastic tab and pull off strip. Could not get the lid off no matter what and when the snow is coming down and it's cold? That's a problem. Two days later my nice spousal got the lid off and the scooper is okay but small. Is it worth the time and money? Don't know yet. Still spread on top of ice and even in the sunshine not much action. This is an As Seen on TV choice which was not at WalMart as advertised on TV.Doubt I'll buy it again and use resources for shipping. Small bucket is very expensive. And, yes, I've lived in snow country and do understand.

Works great
I live in Ohio, where we get a lot of snow and ice. I buy ice-melt every year to keep my sidewalks and driveway clear for the mailman and deliveries. I like that this is in a nice big container that I can refill once I run out. The only complaint I have is that the lid was very hard to get off - but I'm also not that strong so that could be why. Also, the lid doesn't re-attach very well. It just kind of sits on top of the tub. I'm afraid the lid will slip off in a high wind and melt the stuff inside, rendering it useless. We'll see...
