Excellent sprinkler with a couple adjustments
I put this Orbit 58308Z TriPod brass Impact Sprinkler to work this morning for the first time. It is an excellent sprinkler and I get good range out of the distance of the water stream. A few adjustments need to be made however. As soon as I turned on my water, the sprinkler tipped over. I ended up getting 3 concrete 'steps' (12"x8"x2" and not very heavy) and used 3 bunji cords to attach the steps to the tripod ... problem solved. The trip pin was working good yesterday but today with the high pressure water that I have, it was knocked all askew and I'm unable to adjust the horizontal distance the sprinkler turns. Not a problem because I only need 360 degrees but kind of annoying that the dang sprinkler broke the first time I used it. I tried to turn the pin to get it straight again but I didn't want to apply too much pressure and end up busting it even more. Kind of ticks me off because I bought the brass unit specifically for reliability and longevity of the sprinkler ... and a .03 cent paper clip turned it to kaka the first day. It is still an excellent sprinkler with excellent range ... easily 45' from the sprinkler --- 90' diameter. I gave it 5 stars, regardless of the paper clip trip pin, because I will get good use out of the 360 degree unit.

Nice Unit, but not "heavy duty." Pin broke, but company backed its warranty!
UPDATE: 10/15/2020: After 2 months, and 3 uses (and just past the Amazon Return date), a small tripod pin broke. That pin attaches the flat “horizontal” metal piece to the central axis “ring” - that then allows the legs to be spread out (to tripod status) or adduct (to storage status). That said, one call to Orbit and a remedy was immediately obtained. They certainly stand behind their product! > ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is a reasonably sturdy little unit that has a good feeling as you open or collapse the legs. Seems well build. I take care with it as I don't believe it was designed for rough or abusive treatment. Seems like if you treat it nice, it will last. I only get maybe 30-40 ft of throw with the water, but then I don't have the best water pressure in the village. I like how it works and sets up / adjusts better than any of my ground-based sprinklers. Stows away nicely. I am a bit concerned as to how the hose hooks up will hold up - so I plan on attaching a quick release system to it eventually. Got this after my die-hard Tractor model died. I wanted something different this time. Glad I got this. Would buy another if putting a second one on my water system would not cut my pressure by half! Good value for the money.

Well Worth Every Penny!
VERY Happy w/ this purchase. From the spray nozzle you can control the width, height & length of the water trajectory. I am Beyond pleased! WELL worth the $$. Also happy to No longer get soaked when putting out my lawn sprinkler from the Oscillating I had! Don’t Hesitate on this one! I actually enjoy watering my lawn! Complete Satisfaction!

Versatile
This is very effective! Sometimes there is a struggle when moving it but that is because the water hose doesn't want to cooperate. This is a fantastic sprinkler and the versatility is unmatched!

😱 DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY💩
Exactly two years ago I purchased two of these expensive but worthless sprinklers. One of them never worked. It spewed water out in a sloppy stream about 8 feet and half the water gurgled from the head to the ground plus it would not spin. The other one we got going and stupid, stupid me, I did not return the one that did not work - I was so busy that summer I just felt I could get by with the one that worked. I used the good one about a month before it too started gurgling huge amounts of water from the head and stopped spinning. Of course we worked and worked on the adjustments, we added washer and tried everything but could not get it going. We packed them up for the winter and vowed to work on them the following summer. This summer we set them up again and after trying to adjust them we had our plumber take a look at them. He worked on them and got one of them going but the other bad one was a lost cause. As soon as the plumber left the "good" sprinkler quit spinning.😡😭We worked some more but could not get them going ever again. I wasted $90 on both these worthless things and even worse was the frustration we went through. I reached out to the company through the Amazon messaging system but never heard a word from them. I don't know if they received it or just chose to ignore me. I bought a $17 Orbit sprinkler that covers 3,600 feet that waves from side to side and it works perfectly. You have been warned.

This is a solid unit! I will purchase a 2nd.
I admit it... I was reluctant to buy this item. After all, I had tried other tripod based irrigation sprinklers only to be disappointed. They all failed in just a short while because they were poorly constructed and made of lightweight materials. Afler all, impact sprinklers generate a lot of torque when I der pressure. That is not a problem with this sprinkler! This sprinkler tripod is beefy, with a strong, heavy-duty metal base. The impact sprinkler head is also heavy duty brass and all metal construction. The throw distance is adjustable with a metal set screw while the unit can be adjusted to a small coverage area (approximately 15-20 degrees) all they up to a full 360 degree rotation. The telescoping legs are super easy to adjust, which is important if working on sloped ground. With impact sprinklers it is important to keep the sprinkler head level for greatest efficiency. And adjusting the legs up or down will either increase or decrease the throw distance. Admittedly, impact sprinklers are not the most efficient, but they are effective. For my front yard, for example, I can achieve a 25-30 foot radius at half-flow from my water valve and deliver a 1/4 inch of water per hour at the furthest extent of the spray. Properly maintained and stored, I expect to get a decade or more out of this sprinkler.

Orbit vs Eden
This review is going to compare the Orbit and Eden large-area, tripod impact sprinkler systems (in the pics, Eden is on the left and Orbit is on the right). TLDR - Neither are perfect, neither are bad, but the Eden is better and worth $30 more in my use-case. We have 1/2 acre of lawn, cultivated garden, and "wild" garden that needs water during our mid-South summers of partial drought and 100*+ temps. We're not trying to maintain golf greens, just keep plants alive through the summer. We've tried a lot of different watering methods and eventually went with tripod mounted impact sprinklers that could spray over tall garden plants and are easily moved since we only need to irrigate a few months of the year. We're using city water (until we finish our rain catchment systems) and cover our area with 2 sprinklers going, one with 100ft of hose and the other with 75ft, by moving them each once to a new location during the watering cycle. The radius of spray is roughly 38ft for both. I bought both brands to see if there were really a difference. Orbit: The good - the coverage is great and it's very adjustable! It's cheaper and does its job well if you don't need something heavy duty and aren't going to move it across varied terrain. The triple seal of 2 o-rings and a nylon washer at the bottom of the sprinkler head works better to prevent water waste at lower pressures than the single o-ring and spring used by the Eden. The bad - the pin that holds the coverage area adjustment mechanism backs out and has to be hammered back in, the screws on the tripod legs do not use thread-lock and fall out, the plastic lip on top of the tripod breaks and leads to leaks between the tripod and sprinkler head (maybe wouldn't be an issue if you don't regularly adjust the coverage area angle or switch back and forth between select area and 360* - both these adjustments put strain in that area so the sprinkler head loosens and tightening it causes that plastic to crack), and the sprinkler head can easily get stuck at either end of its rotation when not on 360*. Eden: The good - It seems more robust in every way to the Orbit. Coverage is just as good. The fittings on the tripod and the sprinkler head are better designed than the Orbit. The spring holding the sprinkler head up to seal makes it easier to adjust between 360* and select coverage and prevents some of the waste of water when you initially engage the sprinkler. The impact action is smoother both ways than the Orbit. The bad - The metal of the tripod is not significantly better than the Orbit. When they say they are the "heaviest" tripod in its class, it's because the legs are filled with sand. It has nothing to do with quality and seems dishonest. The screws that attach the legs to the tripod do not use thread-lock and can fall out. The seals at the bottom of the sprinkler head are not as good as the Orbit. The extension pipe for the head does not add significant enough coverage to warrant the extra strain on the system when running the head at full pressure (it really bounces and you have to be very careful to keep it level and supported to the downhill sides).

Leaks : not fit for purpose
Great tripod, absolutely useless sprinkler - more water leaks out of the sprinkler body than actually sprays from the nozzle, so completely unfit for purpose. Was about to return in disgust when I had an accident and by the time I came out of hospital the return window had just closed!

90 ft diameter?
Welchen Druck braucht man dafür.

Love this watering system.
The best watering system for my raised garden beds. Sturdy, does not tip over like other cheaper made brands. Don't be fooled by lesser valued watering systems like this as they do not preform and tip over easily. This Orbit watering Impact with tripod base is the only one you should buy.
