fun, and sounds nice
It comes with the bridge off, and must be placed properly. The instructions included work for this. It plays well, and I get nice sustain on even the highest notes. the frets are level; no buzzing! seems durable, the moulded plastic back is fit well to the spruce (?) top.

Poor craftsmanship or terrible shipping service?
It was received half assembled and the corners of the instrument were busted. I was so excited to finally purchase one until it arrived. Very disappointed.

Sounds good, nice tone.
For the price, this balalaika has a surprisingly good sound. The back is molded plastic, like those Gibson guitars which sound pretty good. It sustains the notes really well. It's solidly constructed, doesn't feel cheap. Don't hesitate to buy this one. It's a good deal.

Great though with shortcomings,,
I am happy with it.. There are only three things that I feel should be met: 1. All the tuners should be on one side only as in the picture.. (I got one with the A string tuner on the opposite side of the E string tuners) 2. The E strings should have been of nylon.. (Mine were steel, like the A string) 3. The bottom of the Balalaika where the strings are fixed is of steel, which I need to protect from rusting.. (It would be better if there were pegs fitted for the string loops) All being said, it is still a very good beginner's Balalaika.. I am learning to play the Balalaika, and I love it..

Good so far. The tuners on mine are not like those in the picture. On mine, the A-string tuner, far right, is on the opposite side from the other two. Nice balalaika. Nice sound. Stays in tune.

New Russian Balalaika 3 String Prima
The instrument arrived safely and securely packaged on it's trip from the Ukraine to eastern Massachusetts. It came strung with 3 steel strings. I would have preferred nylon for the 2 A strings. But that can be rectified with purchase of a fresh set of strings. I am generally pleased with the quality of the instrument I received.

worth every penny
it is a well made and beautiful instrument. it was very securely packed and it arrived early. you’ll have to set the bridge yourself which takes time and patience it also comes with all steel strings. it’s beautifully painted however the design i got was not the design shown in the pictures but it was still gorgeous.
