Venom Low Voltage Monitor For 2S To 8S LiPo Batteries

Very accurate, tested this against a few others and this one by a\far is the best i've seen, alarm is super loud, the button to program is easy to use and works unlike those cheap clear plastic coated ones, very well built nice hard plastic case clear labeled - connection side and + 2-8s connectors. Highly recommend this to anyone who uses lipo battery's.

This monitor is easy to plug in and read. I have not had any issues with any of mine and all of my friends and family own and use several of these. The alarm definitely works and always scares the living daylights out of me because it is so loud and piercing.

just tried this out today for the first time, and it works marvelous. reads all individual battery cell voltages and gives you total voltage combined, and the alarm is pretty loud, even for someone who is hard of hearing like me. if your plane is way out there, not sure if you would hear it too well. worth the investment to save over discharging your batteries and causing permanent damage to them.

Knowing how your lipo battery is performing is important when flying electric RC airplanes. Lipo batteries degrade over time and with abuse. Unfortunately, my collection of batteries is probably more impacted by the latter factor. This device allows me measure cell voltages at rest, pre-flight, and, via a very loud and non-adjustable audio alarm, to be notified if cell voltage drops below a user-adjustable voltage threshold while in the air. The latter function is the most important one, as sudden voltage drops can cause a temporary loss of power to the radio receiver in the plane and result in the whole radio system rebooting in flight. As those who fly these planes know, these "brown outs" usually result in an crash of the aircraft. Since using this monitor, I have identified two batteries that are definitely hazardous to my planes' health. It is worth noting that this device is sold by a variety of vendors with a housing, as this one has, and without, which saves a few grams. The weight difference can be important if you are flying small RC planes, as I do. I have since purchased two without the housing for use in flight. The audio alarm is very loud and can be heard far away. The first time I heard it coming from my plane, I was taking off and nearly forgot to make my first turn, so be ready for the distraction. It would be nice if the alarm was adjustable. I may try using tape or foam to drop the decibels a bit. There is one additional useful application of these devices: battery discharge monitor and alarm. Placing lipo batteries on a storage charge of 3.8 to 3.85 volts per cell is recommended if the batteries will not be used immediately. My charger does not allow me to adjust the cutoff point for battery voltage discharge, and it would not be that helpful anyway as I am interested in discharging multiple batteries at a time via my balance board. To get around this, I attach these devices to the balance port of each battery I am discharging and set the voltage threshold to 3.8 volts per cell (the voltage steps are in .1 volts; 3.9 is too high). Once discharging the batteries via the charger, I can visually monitor the discharge state of each cell of each battery and will be very loudly notified by the alarm when a cell hits 3.8 volts.

I use this lipo tester/low voltage indicator primarily for checking the overall voltage and individual voltage cell count. This Venom tester has been the most accurate for me. The other similar style testers, although significantly cheaper, offer inconsistent readings. You generally get what you pay for, so if you want reliability and reasonable accuracy, then I would purchase one of these. The other $2-$5 testers may be adequate for low voltage alarms, but I no longer use them for voltage cell counts due to their inaccurate/inconsistent readings, which vary from tester to tester.

Great little voltage tester. This thing is super loud. It's so loud it's gonna shock your ears. The use is simple however if you have no idea what you're doing the unit does not include very detailed instructions. This helps me out a lot because I own 15+ lipos and it's hard to keep track which ones have a charge and which ones need charging. I don't fear overcharging my batteries or having dead batteries on the field. Great investment. As always this is another quality product from Venom.

I bought this for an RC car that will discharge lipo batteries lower than what is recommended. You can set at what voltage the alarm will go off at. It also work for seeing how charged you batteries are. Only downside is as soon as you plug it in it will alarm. And it's REALLY LOUD

Using this in RC planes. Some of these LiPO alarms don't shut off after the LiPO voltage rises above the alarm level. This one does! So if you are hitting it hard and the alarm goes off, you can back off the throttle and the alarm goes off. You can sorta get a feel for how close you are to your alarm level by adding/decreasing throttle. This one costs a bit more than one without a case, but the case helps protect it and this is a great tool to have. And some don't reset when the voltage returns. Better than timers, and maybe better than having to listen to your transmitter computer voice talking to you. One button setting for alarm is easy, voltage checker is accurate enough, and Alarm is quite audible.

Works great. Buzzer for low voltage is very loud. Loud as about that of a smoke detector.
