Oh, After Eight, you glorious little slivers of sophistication wrapped in nostalgia and questionable self-restraint. Nothing says “I’m terribly refined” quite like unwrapping a paper-thin mint chocolate at 8:01 PM—because heaven forbid one indulges before the appointed hour. What are we, animals? The chocolate is dark and broody, like a misunderstood poet. The mint is crisp and cool, like the butler’s disapproval. Together, they form a duo so utterly decadent it practically requires a tuxedo and a monocle just to consume. Perfect for impressing guests, bribing one’s own better judgment, or pretending you live in a manor house when you’re really just hiding in the pantry with the dog. I’ve bought them several times, and every time I tell myself, “I shall just have the one.” And then the box disappears. Mysteriously. Into my face. If you’re looking for a chocolate that whispers “tasteful indulgence” while screaming “you’re not sharing,” look no further. Absolutely divine.

After Eight Thin Mints have been a holiday favorite for as long as I can remember but they are hard to find. They are delicate chocolate covered mints in individual envelopes and have a very delightful flavor. They are creamy, thin delights that melt in your mouth. Try them!

I really don’t want to give this purchase any stars, but the Amazon system won’t allow me to submit the review without doing so. There was nothing to like about this particular box of after 8 mints. The photos tells all. This is exactly how these chocolates arrived. The outer box (packaging) was dented, and on opening the box, it took some work to peel off the green cover from the top of this box of chocolates. What I found inside was an inedible mess. Additionally, papers are stuck to some of the chocolate, and the chocolate itself is mottled white. They are either old or melted or both. Also as other reviewer had mentioned, the advertisement shows a photo of 2 boxes of chocolates, not one. You only get one box. I wouldn’t have minded just the one if the one box would have been decent. I realize that the chocolates were exported all the way from the UK, but that doesn’t excuse the mess that arrived. Lesson learned won’t purchase these online again. I have thrown the whole mess away.

There are cheaper versions of mint chocolates, but if you want to treat yourself or your guests After Eight is the one to buy. It is surprising how few young people have heard of them, but once they've tasted one or two they become fans.

These still have the same taste as before, but they are not as thick as they used to be years ago. I guess like so many other companies, they reduced the size. They still make a big impression because they are individually wrapped in black paper sleeves.

I do believe the other reviewer's story, likely the shipping company didn't take proper precautions or the weather was really hot or some other issue. I ordered these in the Fall, in N. California, and had no troubles. I just wanted to counter the 1 star review here, since these are semi-famous candies and quite good, and it's nice to be able to get them on Amazon, so I'd hate for an initial one star review to scare people off for all times (and have Amazon think they're not worth selling!). What else to say.... They're a bit like flat square Junior Mints, though possibly more of a premium feel; so if you like those then you may like these. The fondant (filling) in these is more translucent than the white opaque filling in Junior Mints. Also this filling in these has a bit of texture, maybe tiny slightly crunchy bits; I assumed they're supposed to be there, but possibly very slight sugar crystallization; Junior Mints' filling is much more processed and uniform. Also edges of these are not quite sealed with Chocolate. Each of these is in it's own little dark paper "envelope", though that's not sealed at the top, so I suppose it would be a bit easier to share these and pass them around or leave them out vs. Junior Mints which you just loose in the box. BTW, I found it a bit amusing, you can smell them even in the box without opening the plastic wrap. Not a problem, unless you're trying to be stealthy, just that they are super "minty".

ミントとチョコレートのバランスがちょうどよく、おいしい。 日本からの注文ですが、もしこの製品が日本メーカー製だったとしたら、同じ大きさの箱に10枚くらいしか入っていないでしょうね（大げさではありません）。この製品は箱の中にぎっしり詰まっていて、うれしくなりました。 日本はすっかり没落してしまい、食品のシュリンクフレーションがひどいことになっています。チョコレートやミントが買えるだけでもありがたいと思わなければいけないのかもしれませんが。日本の大手スーパーマーケットチェーンでは、代用の材料で製造したチョコレート風菓子が売られており、それしか買えない人も多いようです。 今の状勢だと、８0年前、占領軍の兵隊に子供が群がってGib mi chocolaytohとねだったように、chin gay woh chow-koo-lee と子供がねだるようになる日も近そうです。

Wish they were available all year long…

These are soooo good! Thin chocolate mints with a nice strong minty taste. Great after a heavy meal or just for a sweet treat.
