NeilMed Sinus Rinse All Natural Relief Premixed Refill Packets 100 Each

About two years ago a friend of mine recommended using NeilMed as a sinus rinse, both to avoid colds and ease congestion. Ever since, I've been using NeilMed packets with the squeeze bottle that you can buy to go with it. (I personally prefer the bottle to using a neti pot, but some people prefer the neti pot). You simply fill the bottle to the fill-line with clean, nicely warm water, add a packet (or put the packet contents in before you add the water), shake the bottle a couple of time (don't forget to put your finger over the hole in the screw on cap when you do!), and you're ready to go. There's perhaps 1/3-1/2 tsp. of dried saline granules in each packet, and it dissolves pretty much instantly when water is added. There are detailed instructions for use on the package. NeilMed works as well as my friend said it did. In winter especially, it's very helpful, after you've been in public places with a lot of people around, including doctor's offices, for flushing away potentially illness-causing bacteria/viruses before they can take hold. But it's also very helpful to clean out your sinuses in other seasons, to get rid of allergens. Not incidentally, I'm a person who, since unpleasant childhood swimming/diving experiences of getting water up my nose, NEVER thought I would be able to use a sinus rinse like this involving squirting water into one's nose. I found, to my surprise, that, following the directions, I had no problem with it, and I now use these packets whenever I feel it's necessary. NeilMed is far superior, in my view, to using a nasal spray regularly -- especially Rx nasal sprays, as the drug(s) in them tend to dry out your sinuses, and also often make your eyes (and even your mouth) dry.

Last autumn I got diagnosed with a platasious eustachian tube, its a rare type of inner-ear condition. The doc recommended trying this first before the medication. I was unable to find this brand at my local pharmacy so I tried a similar generic brand. It was awful. It caused extreme burning in my nose and made my teeth hurt as if I had just got all my wisdom teeth pulled again. After that mistake, I ordered the NeilMed brand that the doc originally recommended and it was way better. No burning or sore teeth. I can also say that it did provide some relief from the platasious eustachian tube, although I did ultimately go with the medication that worked even better. I still use these sinus rinse packets occasionally to clear my sinuses when I have a cold.

I love this stuff! Everyone needs this because you never know what hiding in your nose waiting to infect your lungs and throat. Pollution, pollen... sometime people pass gas and that odor get stuck in your nostrils and you need to wash it out. Especially when it comes from a stranger. I hate going into a public restroom and the person walking out just terrorized the bathroom by gassing the place up. Yes I carry this stuff in my purse. Gas can be deadly especially since Covid is here. If you have a cold or sinus problems this stuff is perfect also too. 😀😊

My husband and I both do sinus cleanses regularly and have for years. We started out with the NeilMed netti pot, which to us was a lot more trouble than it was worth, and then switched to the squeeze bottle, which is much easier! You cannot use plain water in a sinus rinse. I tried it once, and it was painful. For some reason you really must use this mixture of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) and salt. You could mix your own, but that would be a big hassle. The individual, pre-measured packets are just the right blend of ingredients and just the right amount. Add one packet to warm, not hot, water, and rinse, much healthier than taking antibiotics any day. The sinuses are cavities and should not have gunk in them. If they contain gunk, it can easily become infected. Either way, you feel miserable. Rinsing the sinuses is a natural, quick, and easy way to cleanse your sinuses. You'll feel better for it and be healthier. The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because they're so pricey. I wish they'd sell them for a more reasonable price.
