Women's Whisper Closed Toe Sport Sandals

Just received these Keens-the Whisper style, for my daughter and thought we had another pair we were keeping, the Whisper Lite style. This review is a comparison between the two. To my surprise, despite being the same size, the Whisper Keen appear narrower in terms of the top portion fitting more snug- which is great for my daughter, who has long narrow feet. The Whisper Lite style has a larger opening to put the shoe on and is more generous in the overall width, though it can be tightened with the bungee lacing system. The construction on the Whisper is the durable rubber sole, which does add a little weight. The Whisper Lite style, as the name suggests, are a lighter construction, with a foam footbed and a minimal amount of rubber on the bottom to keep the shoe light, but provide adequate traction. Because the Whisper offers a tighter fit for my daughter, we are keeping them! I would imagine that this is not an ideal fit for all feet types.

I've been a Keen lover/wearer for a long time and truly love this brand, but I think my Whispers may be my favorite pair yet. I bought this as an "upgrade" from my Newport H2s and these are SO much better. I love that the neoprene stretches in the bit around your ankle - this made them wearable right out of the box with no break-in period and ZERO blisters. They are ridiculously light weight - much lighter than my Newports - but really sturdy and durable. I wore them on a recent trip to Costa Rica and they were the perfect shoe for all of the wet/dry activities I did, like white-water river rafting, light hiking, swimming, rappelling, sailing, walking around town, etc. They dry quickly and don't get stinky (but if they did you can throw them in the washing machine with your laundry). I'll also note that I have arthritis in my feet - specifically my big toe joint - and these were always comfy and supportive. I could keep going with no pain, which was awesome. If my feet swelled, it was easy to loosen up the lacing system. On top of all that, I got complements on them - they're pretty cute. These are more narrow and girly than the Newports. I love them so much I bought a second pair. I highly recommend these - they're great for adventures and anytime you might get your feet wet - they're also really comfortable and a great all-around sandal for warm weather. For me they run pretty true to size (I wear a 6 1/2 in other shoes and these), but I know that a lot of people like to get them a 1/2 size bigger.

Size: 7 Bought for: extra pair of shoes for Portugal travel in April/May. Features Important to Me: lightweight, stable walking on wet or slippery surfaces, possible “evening” shoe, roomy shoebox for my wide feet. These look and feel great! They’re a little narrower than I expected but loosening the elastic laces helped and the snugger fit felt like a second skin instead of a shoe. I wore them around all day and found them exceptionally comfortable and look forward to wearing them on my trip!

Nice comfortable walking sandals. Wear to walk dogs to beach. Fabric is stretchy and fits feet and heels , good support at heel and arch. Look very nice on, got compliments on them.

I got these for my wife for her birthday, and they were a great choice. She really liked them, and they seem very comfortable right out of the box. The closed-toe design is nice for extra protection, and they still feel lightweight and practical for walking, travel, or outdoor use. They look good, feel well made, and are a nice mix of comfort and function. A really good option if you want a sandal that is supportive, versatile, and gift-worthy.

These sandals have been around for a long time but I can't find anything else that works as well. Replacing an old pair and these do not disappoint! Some manufacturers mess with the models but Keen seems to be keeping this one going strong. Will wear them around the yard, in the river, lakes, and oceans when we travel. Great shoe that offers good comfort and keeps my feet dry and stable when I'm in the water.

UPDATE: I've had these shoes for a little over a year, and the stitching has started to come undone on the side. However, it is easily repairable, and the rest of the shoe is in great condition; so, I still highly recommend them! ORIGINAL POST: First, I'll say that I absolutely love these shoes! As my husband and I were planning our honeymoon in Hawaii, we knew that we were going to need some good water shoes. I'm more of a sandal girl myself; so, I ordered both the Whispers and the Newport H2s, and here's what I found... The Whispers ran truer to size than the Newports. I order my regular size in the Whispers, which fit perfectly, but I needed about a full size bigger on the Newports. (Not a deal breaker, but just something to note.) The Whispers have a significantly nicer feel to them, but they do run a bit narrow; so, if you have wider feet, you likely want to go with the Newports, regardless of size. However, while the Newports are wider and are definitely a more rugged shoe with a bigger toe bumper, that also makes them a bit heavier and they tend to clomp a bit more. Depending on how you're looking to use them, this might be what you need, but for me just walking and hiking around Hawaii, the Whispers did just fine. I will note that on the beaches, especially the pebbly ones, the sand did get stuck in the Whispers a bit, but my guess is that would've happened even more with the Newports as the latter have the bigger toe bumper where sand likely would've gotten stuck. As far as arch support, the Whispers have good support, but the Newports definitely had a better insole. However, it also made the Newports a bit tighter on the top, almost like they didn't fully account for the arch, which wasn't unbearable, but again, something to note when choosing what size to order. For me, the arch support was still more than sufficient in the Whispers, and my feet never felt too tired walking around in them for hours. I've also heard comments that the back of the straps on Keens get stretched out after time; so, I also liked that the Whispers were reinforced with ribbon around the back too. It also added a cute accent to the design, making them not only a good water sandal, but also a cute all-around nice shoe. They were so comfortable that I ended up wearing them even when I knew we weren't going to be getting our feet wet. So, after walking around the house in them for about 1-2 days each, I ultimately went with the Whispers, and I'm very glad that I did. The fit was comfortable, they weren't too bulky, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do, which was mainly protect my feet as we explored rainforests, beaches, and other fun sites. I'll try to give an update once I've had them a bit longer, but after two weeks of wearing these almost exclusively in Hawaii, I can say that I'm very happy with them and would highly recommend them to anyone!

After reading a multitude of reviews for these shoes, I decided to go to my local brick & mortar store to try a pair on (I have arthritis and bone spurs in my feet after two foot surgeries more than 23 years ago, so I don't buy shoes without trying them on first). I really love the fit - they are wide enough to be comfortable without being too wide. The bungie cord system works very well to give a more custom fit (I have skinnier heels/ankles, and these shoes can be adjusted to accommodate that). Also, if your feet swell you can loosen the bungie cord to allow more room. The foot bed has just the right balance of cushy-ness and firmness to keep my feet comfortable. I purchased these from Amazon specifically for walking during the summer months. My feet seriously overheat even when wearing ventilated shoes. My first walk was only about 1.5 miles - I wanted to make sure that nothing would rub my bare toes, heels, etc., so I stuck to a shorter walk. To my amazement, I experienced nothing but comfort - no blisters, no sore spots. I have since gone on several walks (the most recent being more than 4.5 miles) in these without any ill effect - even the bone spurs on the ball of my right foot were still happy after that walk. I bought these in the Sangria print and could not be happier with the appearance, color, fit, quality and comfort of these shoes. I know I'll be taking these on vacation with me where I will be doing a lot of walking (and beach-combing - love that these are waterproof; especially in Lake Michigan where many areas have lots of rocks!). Yes, they are pricey (I used my Chase points so I ended up paying just over $30); however, even if I had paid full price I would be very happy with these shoes. For the amount of wear I am going to be giving these, they will be worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Not the most attractive but so comfortable you forget you've got them on and great for walking as they offer toe protection and you can get them wet. I have wide feet that are not easily pleased but I'm very happy with these and great to find in a half size making the perfect fit for me.
