CANVALOK KLIKstretch Dual-Plier Canvas Stretching System - The Easiest Way to a Perfect Canvas

This is an innovative solution to the problem of stretching canvases (especially larger ones). This product offers a specific level of control as the canvas is tensioned, an excellent tool that I am pleased to have. It will make my job easier.

To cumbersome and heavy and they will tear the canvas where they hold it. Good idea, but still needs some design work to make it worthwhile.

I like that I don't have to wreck my arthritic hands to stretch a canvas, so that's why I give it 4 stars. Also there's no "half star." The only issue I found in using this is repositioning it on a rectangular canvas with widths that have a 1:2 ratio; isn't so quick. The release doesn't always want to let go so easily and I got frustrated with this step, but eventually figured out that if you pull the strap through as much as possible without effort (loose but no visible slack) before cranking it tight, it makes it easier to shift. But it definitely helped me with getting a better stretch.

I do my own canvas photo printing on a 44" wide printer and stretch photographs up to 8 feet wide. I sell quite a few prints and will be quitting my day job to focus more on my photography which will entail stretching more canvas than before. I have started to notice signs of arthritis in my wrist and thumb from the repetitive stress while stretching canvas by hand and was very concerned if I would be able to continue to do this. The Canvalok Klikstretch will allow me to proceed with no worries. Getting ready for our annual community art tour this week and have been putting this to the test replenishing my inventory. I found it starts out best if you tack the canvas ad mid point on each side to make sure everything is centered and then start using the Klickstretch. I plan to purchase one more for use on my very wide pieces to keep tension on the long edge while I tack down the short dimension using the other for that. It took doing one print to get the hang of using it but now my workflow is effortless. I love it!

This could be an excellent product but the workmanship (on the ones I received anyway) was poor. One of the pliers would not stay on the canvas when I tried tightening the canvas. It kept slipping off of one of the sides once the straps started tightening I thought it was something I was doing wrong and I kept trying. I even tried putting some tape one the canvas to hopefully help the grip but that didn't help. Upon examination of this tool I found the issue. One side of the pliers was welded on crooked so that that side did not grip equally to the other side. For the price I paid that should not have happened. Another thing that would have helped would have been to add teeth to the area that grips the canvas. I wanted hours trying to get these to work. What a disappointment.

With a new product comes new techniques with some of them only available by experience. Pre-stretching the canvas will help alleviate puckering and wrinkles. I take my time with this tool and have had satisfying results. I also learned how to fold corners in a way I find easiest from the YouTube video showing how to use this CANVALOK product.
