Effective for reducing knats in the house
These are the best gnat traps for my indoor plants and they are so effective. I got these traps because I had a big gnat problem in my house with my indoor plants. I was repotting soil and nothing seemed to be working until I got these. There was a visible, significant change after just week one on these things. Apparently gnats are most attracted to yellow and I think that is why they were the most effective. These things are extremely sticky, so be careful when putting them in because if it falls on the dirt, there is going to be so much dirt stuck on the sticky parts. Luckily there isn't any odor on these traps. If I had to point out a downside for these traps, it's that they are difficult to put into the dirt. The bottom part is so flimsy and it can be very difficult for it to stand when trying to put it in the soil. I've had to put it up against the pot in order for the trap to be effective. Other than that, it is a great product for a good price.

Gnat's Worst Nightmare
These work very well. I adore the tiny shovel it comes with to help dig a space in the dirt for them to slide into. They are VERY sticky and effectively reduced the gnat population around all of my plants. Yes, they do smell like an industrial grade glue when you first buy them, but the smell isn't noticeable when you put them in and it doesn't affect my plants. The only issue I do have with the traps, is how the base/spear of the trap bends very easily, as you definitely need to use the shovel or some utensil to break up the dirt before putting it in. But overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Should Have Bought These First!
These indoor gnat traps are better at reducing gnats than anything we've tried so far. Apparently, we used we used gnat fungus infested potting soil when replanting a few house plants a couple of months ago. I have been fighting a gnat infestation ever since. We've used a bug zapper in close proximity, non-toxic flea and tic spray, hydrogen peroxide with water, and apple cider vinegar with dish detergent. All of which barely reduced those nasty little buggers. Within 24 hours of placing these yellow gnat traps in and around the infested potted plants the bug zapper is silent! Oh joy! I enjoy my coffee looking out the window past these plants every morning! So every morning I would see gnats flittering around the house plants. The apple cider vinegar didn't work at all. The bug spray and watering the plants with hydrogen peroxide and water helped with a bug zapper plugged in nearby, but all of that can't keep up with how fast they multipling. And, after a bit of initial satisfaction, hearing gnats electrocuted day and night is disturbing. Our older, big, bad GSH would move to the other end of the room every time she heard a gnat get zapped. And I hated seeing them every morning! Some of the poor reviews I read almost put me off trying these things. I DO NOT AGREE with any of the negative reviews. I read reviews about them not being sticky enough to hold onto a gnat. That's not true! Did they not remove the paper covering the two sticky sides? I also read something about them being too flimsy to put in a potted plant. What?! That's not true either. These things work great for trapping gnats. I would guess the glue is strong enough to catch something all the way up to a fly. And you can kind of place them at an angle so that they mostly disappear. Certainly, they aren't as unsightly as fly paper. However, I don't think these traps do anything to reduce the fungus itself. For now, we will continue using the flea tick spray and watering the plants with the hydrogen peroxide to see if we can eventually stop using the traps. At least the bugs zappers have gone silent. Small victory. Some of these are fairly big plants, and one of them is a type of cactus that we've had for many years. So tossing them and starting over is not a good solution. Needless to say, we'll better inspect any new potting soil from now on. Stupid gnats. I've only begun to fight! Lol

Goodbye Gnats!
Doesn't get rid of your gnat problem but keeps things under control. I have several plants around my house and usually run into a gnat problem a few times a year. These traps do the job and it's really satisfying to see how many bugs they will catch. For the cheap cost, these are worth it but again, they don't get to the source of the problem so you will most likely have to resort to other measures to eradicate the pests. The best part is that there is no mess and they can be tossed in the trash when you're done!

Great products t
I was completely skeptical when this came up as a suggestion on Pinterest. I was still not completely sold after reading the reviews here. The reviews do not lie. This product works fantastically. They are a great value for the money spent. The only thing to be aware of is it is very very sticky. It got stuck on my fingers often until I learned how to insert it without the thing sticking to me.

These work so well in and outside of the house! No more annoying flies and fruit flies! I have these in my greenhouse as well and I don't have bug problems like I used to. These help so much!

REALLY WORKS! DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO AND YOU CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE!
What a pleasure to write a review for a product that does exactly what it says it will do and at a very reasonable price! For $7.99 plus tax you get 40 of these sticky yellow butterflies which are meant to catch gnats, fruit flies and other pesky little flying bugs. We were plagued with an infestation of fruit flies and I do not use the word "plagued" lightly. I have no idea where they came from (we keep a very clean house) but one day there seemed to be hundreds of them everywhere - especially congregating near the kitchen sink. Following some online instructions we concocted a mixture of apple cider vinegar with a little sugar and a dark of dish soap in a plastic container, covered it with Saran Wrap, and poked small holes in the top. The idea behind this is that the bugs are attracted to the smell of the mixture, they enter the container through the small holes but then get trapped inside and cannot get out. This worked to capture a very few of the fruit flies but the problem persisted until we added these sticky butterflies to the top of each jar that contained the mixture. The result was almost immediate! Within minutes we had several dozen of these fruit flies stuck to the yellow butterflies - see attached (somewhat disgusting) photos. We placed a few of these butterflies in different locations throughout the house - including in the soil of our house plants - and each butterfly managed to trap at least some of the tiny bugs - though none came close to the one we put in the kitchen sink. I don't know if this will completely alleviate our problem, but so far these sticky butterflies have gone a long way to getting rid of dozens of the nasty bugs. If you have a fruit fly or gnat problem, I can highly recommend these sticky butterflies as an inexpensive fix that really works!

Cute but no so user friendly :(
These are adorable and look nice in my potted plants. The down side is they are a "dickens" to get the paper off and when you put them in pots, the potting soil gets all over the sticky part and does not look so nice, not to mention the sticky glue gets all over your fingers trying to peel the paper off them. Also, the little shovel they provide to make a hole to place them in feel apart. Quite frustrating.
