Living Loud

I've been rediscovering Ozzy's early solo CDs lately. I didn't give much of it a fair shake back in the day because I was more into Ed Van Halen than Randy Rhoads and I thought Ozzy was a bit too much of a clown which kind of soured his music for me. The Dark Prince of Cheese with his hired guns. As a middle aged adult I recognize Daisley's writing to Ozzy's character as real genius. I have a lot of respect for that. I still don't think anyone but Ozzy could have played that dorky yet admirable dark metal madman character so straight and pulled it off as well as he did, but he had such a great band with Blizzard of Ozz that it had to be hard to miss the mark. There was just too much great talent there to miss it.I grabbed used copies of the 1995 remasters of Ozzy's catalog up through the early 90s (so far). Somewhere along the line I ran across a reference to this Living Loud CD and performance DVD. I remain convinced that Ozzy's finest years were those with Bob Daisley and Randy Rhoads writing most of the music and lyrics. After Randy was gone Daisley's contributions were still in the better parts of the band. It seems right, feels right that these old Ozzy tunes could be remade by band members who are (in part) veterans of Blizzard Of Ozz. It's justified from the concept.If the music isn't perfectly appealing for some old Ozzy and Randy fans, I fully believe the FUN of this project is well worth 5 stars. I honestly think the music and particularly Steve Morse' playing and chunky tone is fantastic on the CD. Their new tracks in between the Ozzy classics are very good too. I didn't want the CD to end. I hope these guys do it again.

The recording dynamic, and in depth detail, to originate all these song(s) that was recorded so many years ago, on the fly, blows me away. I new these men, but never realized the impact a part of a song could be. I was a woodstock pregnancy, by older parents, but I LOVE this Album, I put it in my (99) BOSE (Pontiac Firebird-V6) and crank it and man I just feel FREE, FREE, FREE! Freeman! 0 - 60 -7 sec——60 - 125. ——5 sec———YES YES YES GM!

I played the CD once, then watched the DVD (which didn't work in my DVD player but was fine on the computer). Pleasantly surprised by the excellent video, a boon for Steve Morse fans, he really rocks, and it pays off when you go back to further listenings, picturing what he's actually doing. Just wonderful to enjoy this great one-off show and to revel in Steve's prowess! The DVD makes it a worthwhile purchase and a must for Steve Morse fans.

Great musicians usually equal great music! This does not fly in the face of that concept. This is a surprisingly good effort. I like it a lot. Good blues-tinged rock played by some legendary players Bob Daisley (Rainbow, amongst others), Steve Morse (Deep Purple, The Steve Morse Band, The Dixie Dregs), Lee Kerslake (Drummer for Uriah Heep for decades) and Jimmy Barnes (THE voice from Down Under).Take a gamble and buy this. I'm sure you'll like it.

At first I was expecting another duplicate of Zakk Wylde takes of Ozzy classics. After hearing it on the first listen, I thought....this is a little odd. After numerous listens, I thought, WOW this is way cool. Steve Morse puts his own signature on Randy Rhodes classics and does it splendidly. This is a really cool cd, with good original songs as well, especially Pushed Me Too Hard and Walk Away. Good job guys!

I don't understand the negative reviews, this is a great album! I Love it!

Ok, so there's only 3 reviews here. Does that mean the recording went absolutley nowhere? Probably... I think it's admirable that Kerslake, Daisley and Airey decided to pay their own tribute to Randy Rhoads. However, did they do this to pay tribute to their late friend or to fling it back at Ozzy Osbourne for re-releasing the first two Ozzy recordings with Kerslake's and Daisley's parts re-recorded? Coincidence? Odd-timing? Anyway... (Ozzy stuck it to the original drummer and bass player from those recordings as he was screwing them out of their royalties for a long time. When they decided to sue him? He re-released the original recordings with other musicians recording their parts). The Ozzman has never had my respsect...Doddering old addict/alcoholic with a gift for surrounding himself with really talented guitarists that usually go on to bigger and better things. His voice is so over-sampled and harmonized, it's ridiculous! The man couldn't sell an album with his own voice if he had to. He recently re-re-released said recordings with the orignal bass/drum parts as I think he realized he shot himself in the foot (SHAAAAAROOOOOON!!!!!) But I digress... I was curious to see what was going on with this release as one of my all-time favorite guitarists (Steve Morse) was on axeslinging duty. Which brings me to one of the other 3 reviews of this release...R.J.KARDYS pans the singing and the guitar playing. I agree on the singing portion. I'd never heard of Jimmy Barnes before. I guess he's big in Australia...which is strange, because he sounds a LOT like Brian Johnson from AC/DC (or is it Brian Johnson who sounds like Jimmy Barnes?). No disrespect to either singer, but the vocals don't do a thing for me on the Rhoads/Kerslake/Daisley cover tunes. In fact, if you didn't know better...you'd think it was Brian Johnson doing a cover! Anyway...Mr. Kardys' review consisted of "I hate the singing and guitar playing!!! I thought this was going to be a great cd. Boy was I wrong". Brilliant R.J. Thrill us with your acumen, will you? What is it that you hated about the singing and guitar playing exactly? Steve Morse ia a brilliant guitarist. My jaw dropped the first time I heard "The Introduction" and I've bought everything he's ever done since! He's won the "best guitarist" category in Guitar Player magazine so many times, he's not eligible any longer (got him Hall of Fame status). If you're not familiar with him? Don't feel bad, he's a musician's musician. BUT...do yourself a flavor and pick up just about anything from this guy whether it be his own stuff, the two albums he did with Kansas, his stuff with Deep Purple (yep, he took over Blackmore's role eons ago) and ESPECIALLY his stuff with the Dregs! I'm having a hard time staying on task here... Barnes' vocals on the Blizzard of Oz cover tunes make me wince. Mr. Morse has taken artistic license with Randy's original playing in a way that will make most diehard Rhoads fans go WTF? It's hard to listen to if you're going to do a note for note comparison, but I don't think it was their intent to make it sound like Randy. Take Steve's interpretation of Randy's work? It's really tasty stuff in it's own right, just don't expect him to sound spot-on like Randy. I've seen Steve live many times and he's just amazing. I've yet to corner his style because he does it all! Kerslake and Daisley perform admirably! Turns out Daisley had a lot more to do with the writing of the Blizzard of Oz tunes than I realized, who knew? No one ever got to see these guys perform these songs live as they did the studio recordings and Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo (ugh!) were the players on the BOO and DOAM tours. The one cover that shines here? "Tonight" Airey's keyboards are buried in the mix with the exception of the intro to Mr. Crowley...sorry Don! All the original tunes work very well with the members of the band. Makes you wonder if this release would've been more successful if they'd stuck with originals. Thanks for putting up with another one of my rants/tirades/reviews folks! Buy this album if you're a Morse fan. Buy this album if you'd like to hear some REALLY interesting interpretations of classic RR era Ozzy with 3 of the original players. Buy this album for the original tunes! Don't buy this album if you're expecting to hear faithful renditions of old Ozzy/Randy Rhoades...you probably won't like it. Steve, if you're reading this? We miss seeing you here regularly in Omaha, Ne. The RanchBowl is gone...saw "Mom" working in a grocery store a few years back... No, she's not throwing semi-full pitchers of beer at anyone that I could see! You're one of the most personable, approachable music icons I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Your talent is only surpassed by your humble personality! You are a true artist. You've never let your talent drive your ego (Edward? Yngwie? Take note clowns...)

ボブ(Bob Daisley)とカースレイクじっちゃま(Lee Kerslake)のリズム隊最高ですね相性がいいのでしょうドン・エイリーもいい仕事してます。そして仕事人Steve Morse。ホント器用な人だ。本来HM/HRの人ではないのになあ....DP加入も驚いたけどさ...仕事の半分がOZZY(Randy Rhoads)のカバーですからね....今回は。そんでもってJimmy Barnesこのvocal大好きです、私。UDOのような声質と太い声質を両方持ってる。パワーも十分。だけどね....私もそうだからわかるのだけれど汗かきの人はグレーのシャツは×。やばいって映像に残るんだから。(苦笑)黒にしなさいって(笑)オフィシャルDVD単体発売が当時なかったのこれが原因じゃないだろうなあ....しかしこのBANDはオリジナル曲がいい前にCDのレヴューでも書かせてもらったけれどOZZY対抗BANDで終わってしまったのが残念で仕方ない。In the name of Love 名曲ですよ。LiveでもSteveのguitarが冴えまくりで凄くいい！安いから...いや購入可能な内にHM/HR好きなら買っておきましょう。くどいけれどホントいいBANDだから.....

オリジナル曲だけで勝負してほしかったなあ利権がらみシャロンオズボーンとの確執から発生したバンドととらえるにはもったいないメンツのある意味スーパーバンドozzyの曲はボートラ程度にすれば良かったのになあオリジナル曲がもったいない!星5はオリジナルに対してです※ozzyの曲もちろんSモーズのギターですから悪くはありません　しかしMr.Crowleyはいただけないアレンジが失敗かとあのギターソロが偉大過ぎてアレンジに困ったのかな

新品なのにキズがありましたが、再生できたので交換依頼はしませんでした。「出品者のコメント: 輸入盤新品。国内在庫あり。検品済み。」と記載されていますが、新品を検品するというのは矛盾があると思います。中古品ではないかと疑います。

Seemed like forever before it arrived but boy was it worth the wait great sounding cd and the DVD blow me away great playing on this cd with a great line up

Perfectly good - some great moments - but not quite as blistering as I was hoping.
