Another Lousy Day in Paradise

After taking you in one adventure after another the author settles down to some very serious dissecting of his books sliced sport and his own soul and how and why he pursues it in a lifelong passion. That's e reader will walk away with a better knowledge of the author and himself....

I read this book during a very rainy time when the streams were too high and muddy to fish. He can tell fishing stories that remind you of your own experiences. Either that or you can understand how it happened. If you fly fish Gierach's books are like a big inside joke.

Every fly fisherman could identify with Gierach and his friends except maybe with the frequency and geographic locations of their fishing trips. A delightful read that leaves you with a case of "gierach envy." Considering the expenses are mostly deductible on his tax return I think I may initiate a new career path.

My first exposure to Gierach and his writing/musing. Definitely not my last. I must reveal that I am a "fisherwoman" and still enjoyed his fish tales mixed with his commentary on life. (Ladies, maybe if you want to know what makes your fisherman tick, you should read this LOL) If you are pressed for time, each short story is just enough before lights out. Most male fly fishing fanatics should enjoy this.

This is one of the better offerings put forward by Gierach during the 1990s. I am not sure why, but, for me at least, these seem to be the better writings of this great author. His later stuff can become rather preachy and stand-offish, but these writings are happy and positive, as well as focused on fishing. It offers a great number of illustrations and stories of his fishing tales throughout many travels. They are vivid and entertaining that you can't help but get caught up with his adventures. This is a great step away from later stories in which he hectors us to do as he would. Anyway, all in all, this is a very great book. Get it and enjoy!

Enjoyable book. However I gave it a four because there was an error in the printing process and there are two pages that were duplicated incorrectly so I couldn’t finish reading that one particular chapter.

This is a very enjoyable two set book. There's an interesting 2 page printing error near the end of "Another Lousy Day in Paradise" that will catch you off guard. I'm surprised that the proof readers didn't catch it.

Another Good one. Enjoy all his books. Easy entertaining reading. Too bad I have to write a twenty word description. Easily Recommended book. Blah blah .

An easy, if not particularly memorable, read. After 432 pages one feels the author has nothing more to say that can keep one occupied. To be fair the book has no doubt more interest for an American audience rather than a European one. I find Howell Raine's book 'Fly Fishing through the Midlife Crisis' (another American) a good deal more entertaining and interesting.
