Great for holding pieces of wood for routing projects. Easy to cut to size of workbench. Practical and did a good job keeping wood from slipping.

This really worked for my situation. I am using the mat to keep my futon from sliding off its futon sofa frame. An excellent product.

The material used to make this seems I'd entical to that commonly sold as non-slip underpayment for rugs, or non-slip shelf liner, except the latter are wood colored and this mat is black. The color is the only difference. I would have preferred the wood colored variety as it would not show sanding dust as readily as black, but perhaps black is better because it encourages you to wash the mat occasionally to remove the dust and thereby maintain better the non-slip character of the rubberized fabric. It works well for small pieces being hand or machine sanded, and it's good cushioning for working on scratchable pieces you don't want in direct contact with your bench top. The price of this material is comparable to what you'd pay for a similar size piece of non-slip rug underlayment or shelf liner. JUNE 2019 Update: I bought a second one which is identical to the first, so I must have liked how well the first one worked. These do the job very well.
