within an hour of receiving this, I was well on the way to shaping my dragon, and had a pile of shavings on my porch that every hamster in the neighborhood wanted to dive into.Cuts smoothly, and this is maple, very hard wood, some shavings were 7"-8" long. Left a very clean surface after cutting, and I've never used one of these before. Some chattering if you're giving it too much blade. Learn the tool.Yes there are some issues like blade adjustment and black paint on the base (sole) which is already wearing off. I love it when a problem solves itself. Later I'll flat sand the base.I thought I was just going to rough cut my piece, which has already had bark stripped off with a K-Bar. But many areas look nearly finished and rough sanding won't even be necessary.I love this item, kudos to Lord Spokeshave for inventing it.

This thing is straight trash, it took me 4 hours with a file and a number of stones to get it to work correctly. It came extremely rough, im not just talking the knives. I had to file the mouth and the bottom to get it square, the knives must have been sharpened from the factory on the pavement from their parking lot. I would not recommend this for anyone, beginner of professional. Waste of time and money. You get what you pat for is real for this product

I Have used it to shape a couple of cigar box necks, it is surty, easy to adjust or change blades. A great price and I like that it came with extra blades.

Like ease of use and extra blades. No negatives, although handles could be a bit longer.

The handles were cast iron or steel not quite sure as you’ll see. Sloppy job on the cast and left large seams with extra material which they just put a coat of paint over. Sharp edges on the handle. This didn’t deter me at first as I’m not put off by a little elbow grease and fine tuning so I got it into my vise and began to file down the seams and smooth out the sharp edges to fit the hand better. Got one side done very easily and flipped over and this side is nasty the lines are chunky and irregular. I start to file and go at it and then realize I’m not making much progress. Look at my file and it’s TRASHED. Must have had some carbon in the steel on that side bc it is HARD and wrecked my file. Did my best to finish up and get it back together. This thing is wonky and the tolerances on the adjusters are like really bad. Not even making contact with the blade so it’s practically unusable. I suppose I could have gotten one bad apple out of the bunch but my advice is to pass.
