Must‑Have OBD2 Scanner For Any Truck Dad – Clear Codes Fast And Learn Your Truck
I used this FOXWELL scanner on my own truck and it honestly paid for itself the first time I plugged it in. Instead of guessing or running to a shop, I was able to read the codes right away, see what was going on, and clear them after I fixed the issue so I knew everything was good. The live data is what makes it powerful – you can actually watch what your sensors are doing while the truck is running, which helps you catch problems early instead of getting stranded or surprised at inspection time. I like that it’s simple enough to keep in the truck and use in a parking lot, but still feels like a serious tool, not a toy; the menus are clear and the buttons feel solid in the hand. For any dad driving older or high‑mileage vehicles, this is the kind of scanner that gives you confidence and saves you money every time that check engine light comes on.

Great for the DIY backyard mechanic
I'm happy with this purchase. I tried another brand and it would not read the codes on my mini cooper. This one will and also has a battery test function which has come in handy as well. If you are a DIY mechanic this is a nice tool to have.

Keep out of the Heat!
I really liked this meter. Inexpensive and worked well for basic codes. And the I/M buttons great to test cars you might be buying if you live in a smog control city. The car battery tester worked well to. Nice to see if the batterys good or not. The other thing I'd like to see is fuel tank pressure sensor reading. I have so many problems with the Evap system. The bad thing was it stopped working, or actually there is no readout on the screen. I'll take the blame for that. I would leave it in my vehicle, winter months, no problem. Summer months, not a good idea. Guess the heat got to it? It was on the floor. But still got too hot? Anyways, it lights the screen when plugged into the OBD port, but that's it. Since there is no readout, you don,t know which way to click. I did contact the seller and they did reply quickly, but how do you reinstall something when you don't know where to click? I did get another meter of the same model. This one will stay out of the hot sun. It does have a port to update it, but I never have.

Love my gadgets
I have always love all of my electric testing devices. This is one of my favorites because I can keep a check on my battery so that I'm not broken down somewhere on foot in the middle of the winter or sweltering heat of the summer. I test most of my family's batterys as well as l my own every 6 months. Since batteries have become so expensive I now have a chance to put a little back in preparation.

Great piece of kit
Seen a few of these over the years, some give basic information (a code you can look up on line) and some with a bit more detail. This one gives quite a bit of detail from code for the problem to actually identifying what the problems could be. Easy to use, literally plugged in and it started up, menus are easy to use, and you can clear the fault from the system after you sort it, or in my case the problem had cleared itself (had a miss fire after putting a fuel cleaner in), but left the engine light on, of which is all I had to do was to reset it, which would stop the £80+ a time people seem to have to pay to get errors cleared with no real diagnosis from the garage as to why. Obviously if it happens again (which could mean injector or coil problem) I will take it to get it checked at a garage, but no matter what, it's paid for itself already.
