This stuff is amazing! Just don't get it in your hair or on your clothes
I have been using this stuff for years. I originally got it to stop the ants from getting into my plant stock and ruining my grow. I "painted" the thick goop all around the perimeter of the smart pot base and it immediately stopped all walking insects and forest rodents from trying to get to my plants. I had a bad ant problem at my house and thought of this stuff to see if it would help. The ants were coming in from behind the baseboards and no matter what I tried I couldn't get them to stop, until I used this sticky stuff. I had to remove the baseboards from several rooms, took a paint brush and brushed the entire perimeter of the room and put the baseboards back on. I haven't had a single ant enter any of the rooms that had issues. Only thing I don't like about this stuff is it is VERY sticky. If you get it in your hair or on your clothes, it is next to impossible to remove it from either.

Love this product
Works great. Very sticky says sticky a very long time. For my use around beehive stand, better to use 1" to 1 1/2" putty knife than provided applicator. Wish local stores carried this product.

Ant catcher
I used this for an outdoor cat shelter that had ant problems. It works really well and caught most of the ants, but needs to be reapplied every so often. It holds up decently in bad weather, but heavy rain and wind will cause leaves, twigs, and other small objects to get stuck and reduce the efficiency..

Just what i needed
This certainly seems to be doing the trick. I have been having problems with ants, crawling up my cherry tree. When I wrapped the tree and put the stuff on, I could see the ants getting upset, both coming down and going up my tree. I have had it on for about a week and I only see a few ants still on the tree. The ant trail that was going towards my tree is no longer there.

Switched from Tanglefoot to Catchmaster
I manage a 100 tree orchard at our community garden in Southern California. We use natural insect control relying on natural predators to suppress damaging insects. Ants have a symbiotic relationship with the insects and will protect them from predators so it is important to keep them out of trees. I have been using Tanglefoot for 8 years which has been effective. Unfortunately the formula seems to have become more runny and has been seeping down and under the barriers damaging the tree bark. I switched to Catchmaster a few months ago and it seems thicker and much less runny. So far I have not seen any evidence of it seeping under the barriers but it will probably take a year before I am able to assess its effectiveness and safety.

It's very sticky.
Hopefully preventing ants in bee hives. Will update this when I know how well it's worked.

Waiting to see if it works
I'm giving this s4 star review, predicate on the permits that it works. When we purchase this, we did not realize it was a container of thick, sticky goop. We thought we were getting an Insect banding barrier. In actuality one has to provide the barrier themselves. I initially tried using plastic wrap - bad idea. It was difficult to use, due to the self-clingingness (if this is a word?). I wrapped some plastic film around a 4" PVC pipe. I then cut the film into 4" sections around the PVC tube. I I'm giving this a 4 star review, predicate on the permits that it works. See the clear plastic film on the larger tree. When we purchased this, we did not realize it was a container of thick, sticky goop. We thought we were getting an Insect banding barrier. In actuality one has to provide the barrier themselves. I initially tried using plastic wrap - bad idea. It was difficult to use, die to the self-clingingness (if this s word?). I got a Mini Hand Stretch Wrap (see image the film from the tube around the tree. Since it was one single trunk it was easier than the second tree, with multiple branches and a split trunk. I had a Mini Hand Stretch Wrap (see image - green film). WEAR DISPOSABLE GLOVES! This stuff is really thick and goopy. Once the plastic film was wrapped around the trucks (and lower branches) I applied the glop. On the first tree, I used basic plastic wrap. Cleanup is another story. I tried mineral oil, with limited effect. I ended up using laquer thinner (had no mineral spirits) with a better outcome. All in all,โท not what we were expecting, but if it works and we're OK with it, so far. The description was somewhat confusing, for the uninitiated. It talks about "tree banding material" whatever that is - I know now it's plastic wrap, of some kind. When we bought it we thought it came with this.
