Two lost souls make an unexpected connection in MAP OF THE SOUNDS OF TOKYO, a sexy thriller from writer-director Isabel Coixet (ELEGY). Ryu (Rinko Kikuchi, Oscar nominee for BABEL) is a fish-market employee by day, contract killer by night. David (Sergi Lopez, PANS LABYRINTH) is a Spaniard who runs a Tokyo wine shop. David's girlfriend has recently committed suicide, and her businessman father, blaming David, hires a hitman to kill him. The assassin turns out to be Ryu, and she falls for the man she has been sent to eliminate, leading to a series of steamy sexual encounters in a hotel. Will David learn of his new lovers secret intent? Will Ryu be able to get out of her deadly contract? the sounds of the Tokyo night hold the answers. Review: I loved this movie…. - The premise was excellent…Part-time fish monger/ assassin turned love-struck partner of the wine merchant…..I especially love the love hotel settings in the 'densha'…..great movie!!!!! Review: Very interesting movie, but with a few reservations - Interesting movie. Some of the performances were very impressive, but others were very average. Some very explicit scenes but these weren't really well done, and the movie would have been just fine without it. Don't buy the movie just for those.

map of sounds of tokyo is missing
Yes, i go to Tokyo every year so I am familiar with place. Now, my guess is the authors try to look smart and they use the title in imaginative way. Ok. Lets see my favored movies about Tokyo:Enter the void--the title is movie; Sleepless city--the title is movie; The glamorous life of ....--title is movie.Hmm. The movie start from talking about somebody's girlfriend commiting suicide and we never see anything about it; her rich father gets mad and hires other chick to kill boyfriend // and if father is poor what he suppose to do? //. While its not unusual for young chicks in Japan to kill themself its highly unusual for young chick be for hire to kill anybody. The point is normal people have motivation to do something so I guess normality is not the point for this movie. Well, pointless movie, no nudity whatsoever though all movie rotates around sex etc.... sounds are missing.

An underrated gem
A well acted and realistic portrayal of two complex characters. Minimalistic dialog works in this film. Rinko Kikuchi's character Ryu embodies the contradictions inherent in Japanese culture. Sergi Lopez as David plays the lost and grieving soul with great empathy.

Espectacular
