LASCO 39-9057 Whirlaway and Sinkmaster Disposal Replacement Splashguard,Black

Trial and error finally paid off. I own the Waste King L-8000, which has a 3.1" opening at the sink level/ entry to the disposal unit. Trust that if you attempt to use the usual off-the-shelf hardware store brands, THEY ARE TOO BIG and will not fit. Also if you see others that say they will fit a waste king... Oh, they'll fit, but you WILL have to push EVERYTHING into the disposal unit because they are actually made of a hard plastic-like material, and won't let anything past their tiny little openings. (I actually had to cut their openings out to make them work, hence a waste of money.) This is my third try to replace the splashguard, and I've found the material used to make this splashguard are as close to the original as they make. The noise level and splash-back effect are as expected. Hopefully, this review helps others. I do recommend it as a good replacement for the original equipment.

Easy to install, our old one wore out and we worried we might have to replace the whole garbage disposal. This saved us some money.

This is a replacement splash guard for smaller diameter sink holes. The hole in our sink was about 3 inches across and this fit perfectly. Local hardware stores had nothing this small. Our disposal is the Whirlaway 191 and the gasket that came with it was too large for the opening.

I ordered this for my Whirlaway 584 disposal, for which the OEM splashguard is no longer separately available. This is *not* the same piece. In other words, it's not a direct replacement for the OEM part. The OEM part requires removing the disposal from the bottom and replacing the guard from underneath the sink. This part does not work that way and will not fit that disposal. However, it *does* fit into the opening from the top. It appears this is the intent of this unit, and for that purpose, it does work. However, the very top lip (visible in the picture) is plenty small. When inserting it into the opening, it is possible (even somewhat easy) to shove it right down into the disposal. Don't worry, it's just as easy to get back out. When properly inserted, it works as it should. So far, we have not encountered a problem with the splashguard coming unseated and going down into the disposal. All of the users have been instructed not to shove large items down the disposal with significant force and that appears to result in sustained correct function. My only complaints are: 1) that it's not clear from the marketing material that this is not a direct replacement for the OEM part, and 2) that it's a bit easier than I'd like to shove all the way down into the disposal. Both problems are addressed as described above. The positive of this part is that it does not require removal of the disposal. Just push it down in the drain and go.

Perfectly sized replacement for our Sinkmaster disposal drain. I purched this item because it was one of the few descriptions on Amazon that specifically said it is a Sinkmaster replacement splashguard. It fits nicely into the sink, installation a breeze - just push it into place. It was delivered 24 hours after ordering it (Prime) so that was handy as well.

This is replacement part for a Whirlaway brand disposal. It prevents spray and loose food debri from flying out. I’ve never heard of this brand and it not as quiet as the better ones you buy at big box stores. But it’s my mother in-laws 65 year old house and it gets the job done. These splash guards are not universal, l learned. But when I bought the wrong size at the hardware store, I decided to return with brand name in mind. When i couldn’t find it in stock, I looked on Amazon and found it for several dollars less. It’s very minimal, doesn’t make food grinding any less loud. It doesn’t completely close the opening. It’s just a very basic splash guard that snapped (sorta) into place after I pushed it down the throat of the disposal. I could have returned it to the hardware store and they would have special ordered it. But for $2-3.00 less, I let Amazon deliver in 2 days. Someday I’m going back store I bought the first one and get a refund. When I get around to it.

Let me just say that this purchase was far over due! I don't know why we waited so long, our other one was really tattered and gross. The thing about this being new is it's obviously not as flexible so food doesn't fall through like it used to in our old one, so we need to push the food down using anything (not while it's running, but before you run it). I like that it doesn't look gross when you look in our sink now and it definitely holds in what it supposed to, our old one didn't do that great of a job and some times when you would run the disposal stuff would come out (gross!).

Yes, I gave it five stars. And yes, it says "I love it" when you hover over the fifth star. Well here's the thing. I don't love it. I don't hate it, or dislike it, but I don't really love it. It's not something I think about. At all. Ever. You know why? Because it just works. It sits down in the drain low enough to where the light doesn't catch it, and I don't really ever see it. It works, and that's what it's supposed to do. Stay out of your mind. When it's working you don't have to bother thinking about it. Here you have that product. If you have a Whirlaway 191 like I do, then I'd highly recommend getting one of these. Even if you don't need it. You know why? The ladies love them.
