A Soul-Stirring Journey Through Time
As an avid fan of the Nier series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the latest installment, Nier Replicant for PlayStation 4. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This game takes you on a soul-stirring journey through time with its beautifully crafted world and emotionally charged storyline. The attention to detail in the characters, environment, and music is unparalleled, making it an absolute treat for the senses. The combat system in Nier Replicant is fast-paced and engaging, with a variety of weapons and magic at your disposal. But what really sets this game apart is the multiple endings that depend on the choices you make throughout the game. It adds a layer of depth and replayability that is hard to find in other games. One of the standout features of Nier Replicant is the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack that perfectly complements the game's themes and atmosphere. It's a true masterpiece that will leave a lasting impression on you long after you finish playing. Overall, Nier Replicant is an absolute gem of a game and a must-play for any fan of the Nier series or action RPGs in general. So grab your controller, immerse yourself in this breathtaking world, and prepare to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster that you won't soon forget!

Great Game, No Preorder Bonus!
I would rate the game 5 stars, but gave it 3 because didnt receive the pre-order bonus like many people here. This is what I've done so far in trying to resolve this issue: I contacted AmazonHelp via twitter and they gave me a link to fill out for support. Received email from Amazon stating to contact them. Was able to connect via chat, kept getting transferred to different people via Amazon Customer Service chat as none could help. The last person i chatted with stated that Square Enix is supposed to email us the code, but that didnt make sense since I purchased it on Amazon. Chat transferred me to a call with another Customer Service and I explained the issue and how many people online and in the game review section have this same issue. They stated that they will submit my issue and since many people have the same issue, hopefully it's being investigated further. Then they stated that I should receive notice via email within 48hrs, if not to call back. I contacted Square Enix and they stated Amazon issue. Will update when I get any news. ***Update*** So changed my rating to 5 stars for the game but would give Amazon 1 star for the preorder bonus issue. Square Enix states this is Amazon issue since they have preorder bonus codes for the game. After contacting Amazon via chat and phone multiple times again and them giving me open ended responses or passing the blame to Square, I saw on twitter that you have to reach out to Amazon's Promotions and Marketing team. I emailed them that this need to reach the Promotions team as regular Customer Service has no Idea, I provided very detailed info on the issue and screen shots of the product specifically stating preorder bonus on their website (lucky i took them before they removed it) and also told them that others resolved this issue by Amazon sending them the code. After they finally emailed me back with the code to download the PS4 preorder bonus material.

It's actually about the game! Shocker!
Disclaimer: I did preorder, like, as soon as the listing went up. I haven't gotten a code as far as I'm aware. Tad annoying but I can live. And play the game! Amazing! Never would have thought that was an option! All passive aggressiveness aside, game is great. It's probably exactly how a "version up", as the producer put it, should be handled. It's in that nebulous space between remake and remaster, and honestly I don't find much interest in the semantics. The redone soundtrack is a banger. Love the expanded voice acting for ALL dialogue, and there's quite a bit for that. Gameplay is slick without being as expansive as Automata. I mean, not every dev studio can be Platinum. But it feels good to kill things. Almost as if that might factor into the narrative somehow, I don't know. That narrative though lives rent free in my brain along with Automata, but that should be no surprise for those familiar with Yoko Taro's work. You really need to experience it firsthand.

Great story, good game!
I'll start off by saying that I played Automata first and played it through completely on PS4 until I maxed out the clock and got the platinum trophy. I loved Nier:Automata! So I had to play this game since I missed out on the entire PS3 era when this game first appeared. This game is clearly a more primitive one from an earlier era but plays similarly to Automata as far as fluid combat goes. I really enjoyed some of the boss battles and most of the combat was really fun. The voice acting is mostly good (Grimoire Noir is painfully bad). I was initially annoyed by the British Grimoire Weiss voice but later warmed up to it as some of the dialogue exchanges are pretty funny. The character Kaine seems under developed and I never felt a strong attachment to her even after playing through ending C. I was hoping to be able to play as her for a portion of the game to feel more attached to her story. A lot of her story is told through long text sections. The main drawback to the game is the constant zig-zagging busy-work/tedious side quests along with the small map size that hits a loading screen every time you enter a new area. It gets really grating by the end of the game. The different areas are really small and the loading screens start to become a consistent annoyance. Despite these issues I had, I really enjoyed the story and played it for around 50 hours up through ending C (sadly, I saved over the save file and will have to grind out the 2nd half of the game yet again for ending D!). I can recommend it to anyone who is already a fan of Nier:Automata to see the connections and evolution between the 2 games.

Amazing music, writing and story, limited game world.
The original Nier was one of my all time favorite PS3 games. In my opinion it has the best writing of that generation, and the story structure was unique and amazing. Also the soundtrack is unforgettable. This remaster ups the graphics, reduces the load times, and improves the combat. It’s objectively the best way to experience Nier. Granted the things that annoyed me about the game are there too. The side quests are really terrible and all involve backtracking, which really grates on you because there’s already a ton of backtracking in the main story. We’re talking about 5-6 areas to explore in the entire game. Be prepared to become very familiar with each one. my advice is to accept all side quests but only complete them if it’s on your way through the main story, otherwise you’ll likely burn out on the game after traversing the same paths over and over and over. They don’t give you EXP and the gold you earn can be won more quickly with a couple runs through the junk heap. If you can get past the limited scenery and constantly revisiting the same physical areas, you’ll be rewarded with excellent writing, a haunting and unforgettable soundtrack that still stands as one of the best ever, and an amazing story arc unlike any other (until Automata at least).

It's a great game
It's a great game the flaws though might not be for everyone to play it. It's old game that has been updated for ps4 the storyline is really good, the characters are cool, and the gameplay battle system is fun combined with an outstanding music soundtrack this game surely should deserve a 5/5 but Nier automata is worth a 4/5 this game is only worth a 3/5 in my opinion. What flaws it has is really based on fetch quests back and forth they are so boring to do and a chore to do it, yet you must do it to get the endings of the game up, when I say chore I mean it really is a chore to get all 5 endings ABCDE the game lacks costumes, and you must also get 100% of weapons aside from 100% of quests to get those endings up the real true ending to the game is Ending D sacrifice option that is the original cannon ending for the original game on ps3. Cons of the game- 1: Annoying Quests that make you go back and forth throughout the game 2: Difficult in making money even end game and when you do get the ability to make money its very boring 3: Annoying Garden that you have to individually plant and water which is boring and time consuming. 4:Annoying and hard fishing game until your maximum level then it gets boring wish you could have it fish for you autonomously then I could come back in a 1-2 hours to have 99 Royal fish which I could then sell for 4k each come on this is end game I don't want to be bored standing there holding the analogue stick when i get a bite. 5: Really hard to get rare materials that glow yellow on the floor even with 30% item drop rates equipped. 6: The battle system has become too basic and not as advanced as Nier Automata, if they remake Replicant game with new battle system surely they could of made it to be more complicated than pressing the same button combinations over n over, the earlier part of the game utalized defend and repell enemy attacks but later on in the game your so powerful you no longer need this and when swarmed by hordes of enemies you opt to use magic and evade instead which become your top skills but they do end up boring as all your doing is attack attack evade evade attack attack rinse and repeat, you even stop using some magic attacks because you can only equip 3 or 4 magic attacks 3 if you want 1 evade button and to use the other magic attacks most people don't bother end game they just stick to 3 of their top favourites and that's the end of that. 7: Visiting the same area's throughout an entire game isn't what makes RPG's good, a good RPG or JRPG would always push you to new area's to explore and just give you an option if you want to go back just incase you missed out on a missable item, quest or storyline. Having the freedom to explore forward into the story or go back to collect what you missed is what I prefer in all games. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only reason I played it to the end and got all endings ABCDE was becuase the music and storyline are so good the character designs are really cool, and I just wanted to know what happens in the story is why I played through the boring quests and collected every single weapon in the game, btw nobody uses all 33 weapons minus the automata weapons, but the way it lets you switch between them is pretty good using the D-pad left down and right and holding it to change weapons that is cool but some weapons are just too good not to use all the time such as the phoenix spear, and one secret weapon that has 999 attack and 100% magic attack when fully upgraded, you get after ending E, total maybe 37 weapons or 38 something like that, you only need to find 33 though which you can only do once you complete the game at least once. I personally got all quests and weapons done by during ending B. The game is decent its 60 frames per second on the ps4. If your a Nier fan go for it, but if your not I cannot recommend it because its simply one for the Nier Automata fans or the Nier fan from the ps3 days. I personally don't regret playing it, I've played the ps3 partially back in 2012 or when the game was released, then I played Nier Automata on ps4 when that came out, and I was hooked that game is so slick much better than Replicant but I still enjoyed Nier Replicant almost as much, a good purchase. Should I be surprised though Nier Automata is a ps4 original game, Nier Replicant is just an updated version of a ps3 game. One last thing if you plan to get all the endings google the endings guide because you don't want to messup as one of the endings gives you C or D and you have to get C first because if you get D you will be given an option to erase all your save data as part of the storyline towards ending E, and once you complete ending E you get one of your last save data back from your original game so don't panic, just make sure you get the endings in order!

Interesting story but a very repetitive gameplay
Came to play Replicant after finishing Automata. I was very excited about this title since I think Automata is a masterpiece, unfortunately I found Replicant a bit bland, side quests are annoying and provide nothing to the main story. And forget about getting the platinum trophy, one of them requires you to upgrade all weapons to their max level and it's just extremely annoying farming those materials (it takes, with the best of luck, around 10 hours). Lovely characters though, Emil is a very kind kid and Kainé, despite her outfit, is a very interesting woman. Developers should've spent more time creating more interaction between them than those repetitive silly side quests. About to finish ending E soon, took me around 60 hours to get to this point.
