My husband put it together completely by himself while I was at work as a surprise for me. It can be assembled by one person and is easy to put together because of the instructions and how clearly pieces were labeled. We did screw it into the wall to stabilize it since it’s a larger shelf, but it looks great, and we’ve gotten lots of compliments. It’s very sturdy as it’s holding a large number of heavier biographies, cookbooks, and classics. We’ve purchased at least 5 bookshelves from Amazon, and this one has lived up to our expectations.

I just put this unit together and I am thrilled with it. On initial delivery I did have an issue where one piece was damaged. But I contacted customer support and after sending pictures they sent me out a replacement part. The customer service reps were very responsive in the messaging process and agreed quickly to the solution I requested. I was so relieved when the piece shipped extremely quickly and arrived very securely packaged. The completed unit is very solid and sturdy and looks great. I will very likely buy more of these to match over time.

Almost everything looks good, I really want to assemble and start using it, but a crucial piece is damaged, and one shelf is poorly made. The damaged part is unfortunately the center divider. The edge is cracked and pulling away from the main part. I wouldn’t worry about it if it weren’t at the bottom, but the unit itself is already very heavy, and with more weight from books I’m concerned about the stability. The shelf is less of an issue, though a little disappointing. Otherwise it looks great, all the right pieces and hardware, the right color and accurate measurements. There are some minor nicks and scratches, nothing some furniture paint can’t mask. I like the heavy weight of it for the size, and despite being particleboard it has a great finish and will look real from across the room when assembled. There’s no way I’m returning the whole thing for a replacement, but if just the damaged part could be replaced I’d really appreciate it.

POOR QUALITY POOR PACKAGING BAD SELLER INTERACTION I wish I would have listened to the other bad reviews so I'm writing this to help encourage you NOT TO BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!! I purchased 2 large bookcases. The glue was not allowed to cure before they packed this, nor was it nailed to hold it together. You can tell by how the glue dried AFTER it pulled apart. It also pulled the veneer from the other piece and cracked all along it. It's packaged in extra thin cardboard that breaks apart when you move the box the littlest bit. Nothing to protect the pieces from scratching each other inside the box. Then they expect you to show them all sorts of proof that it's damaged and likely won't give you a refund or send you any replacement pieces. ITS A SCAM!!!!

We ordered two bookcases. The Concepts in Wood: Twelve Shelf Double Bookcase 84"H in Cherry Finish sold by BisonOffice. Although the item was delivered about 10 days late, we were kept informed via email about the delays, so we didn't mind especially with a worldwide pandemic. The bookcases were easy to install and look great! However, we found that on one of the bookcase the top and bottom "apron" was about 2" short. Although we were able to assemble the bookcase and it still looked good, we wanted it to be perfect. We took pictures and sent them to BisonOffice. We received an immediate response, and replacement “aprons” were sent within days. Outstanding customer service! We're very pleased with the bookcases - they're sturdy and look great. Would definitely recommend.

This product arrived with two broken pieces- one of which was one of the main uprights. It seemed like it was packaged well, so I'm not sure if the damage happened in transit (maybe someone dropped it not realizing it weighs 150lbs) or before. The third party vendor they used ignored my instructions to leave the package at the front desk of my building and instead kept calling me at 7 am on a Saturday morning for me to come downstairs. Then he told me he would not move it. If he'd left it at the desk I could have picked it up when I was prepared rather than wrestling this thing up to my apartment in my pajamas. I suppose this isn't exactly the company's fault, but they could have used standard shipping like ups instead of this vendor. Once it was opened, we discovered the cracked pieces. Although the company responded promptly and politely to my request for replacement pieces, the pieces didn't arrive for two weeks. Thankfully those pieces arrived intact. The quality was pretty much what I expected- it's not solid wood, but it looks fine. The finish on some pieces was chipped. By that time I didn't care; I was just happy to have something that would hold books. In the end, I'm happy enough with the bookcase. But, if I had to do it over again, I'd pick something else and not endure the hassle.

Agree with the other reviewers that assembly is a bit of a nightmare. The first one took me close to 3 hours, the second one took about an hour and a half. While the bookshelves are pretty, the quality is not what I would have hoped for the price. The back is a flimsy piece of cardboard like material legitimately held together with tape. When I wiped styrofoam off the stain came off with it. While putting the bottom piece on the first bookshelves the wood just totally splintered and I had to get creative. The second shelve I was shorted two vital screws for assembly and had to go to the store. Again, the look of the bookshelf is very nice. If you have a lot of patience to get past assembly then they may be worth it. The dark brown color is very dark — almost black— but when the sun hits directly the shades of brown come out. All but one of the shelves are adjustable — which is great — except the holes running along each inside are extremely visible.
