Best smelling hair dye
Smells amazing and good blue based black. Dilutes to a lovely smokey blue. As it's thicker than most hair dyes it does require more precision when applying to ensure even coverage. Compared to other hair dyes it is quite pricey, but the company is a good company to support for cruelty free hair care.

Cruelty Free, Salon Quality Results.
I have used this product twice and I am very happy with it. First of all, who wants to put something on their hair which has been tested on animals or contains animal products. This product is cruelty free and animal free. Secondly the quality of product is very good. It went on easily and covered my grey really well too. It delivers salon quality results at a fraction of the price. I did manage to get some in the bath and on the tiled walls, but it came off without any issues. I will definitely be buying this again.

make sure you want this because it is never coming out. Not even with bleach.
Okay, initially, I was very happy with this product. It is very pigmented. However, I've come 180 on this and decided I hate it. I put this over virgin medium ash brown hair. I've just had my hair bleached TWICE at a salon to get rid of it, and they still couldn't get it out. Pros: * very pigmented * nice colour Cons: * only lasts about a week before needing a top up * when it fades, it goes a hideous green. * You cannot get this out. I've used dandruff shampoo and other high-SLS shampoos to try to strip the colour, and it just continued to get a worse shade from there. * No, seriously - I've just paid over £100 for a professional bleach by a hairdresser who used 12vol TWICE and there are *still* streaks from this. Look, end of the day, if a professional salon still can't get the streaks out from this, that's ridiculous. I got this semi-permanent because I wanted something that was non-permanent. I'm really unhappy with this product, and would absolutely not recommend it. The stylist at the salon today said the only way to get this out is to cut it out. That is not what I want from a semi-permanent.

Good but will stain everything you own
It's a good product; it smells nice, easy to use, and I found it lasted about 4 washes (although I use shampoo with sulphate so it may last longer when using sulphate free). The only issue is how easy it is to stain everything. Pillows turned blue, bathtub stained blue and spent a good 20 minutes scrubbing the dye off, white t-shirts as well. The dye comes off fabric in the wash, so just watch out for it.

Five Stars
Great hair dye, only downfall is it stains your skin a bit but it washes off.

It's ok...
This hair dye is really well respected and I bought it based on other people's shining reviews of it and for the fact that it contains only plant-based products, which should hopefully be kinder to my hair. First the positives: I chose black and was impressed by how black it made my hair. I mean, I've been dying my hair black for about 25 years, but the Arctic Fox black is REALLY BLACK! It also goes on with no fuss, no hassle and a minimum of mess (it's semi-perm, so accidental spillage is not a big deal. Mostly...) Negatives: It lasts about 2 washes. I don't wash my hair with shampoo every day - usually about once or twice a week, so to my dismay, by the second wash with shampoo and lukewarm water (about the 3rd week of actual coverag) my original colour was mostly back. It's really messy whilst on your head. I have a habit of touching my hair a lot. No idea why, but I tuck bits behind my ears, scoop bits back into a pony tail and let it dangle free, run my fingers through it to de-tangle and so on. Whenever I do this, I get black all over my nails and finger tips which I have to immediately wash off. Yes, I know it's a semi-perm hair dye, but it seems to come off onto my fingers more noticeably than other semi-perms I've used. It doesn't make a dent on grey hairs. To be fair, it never claims to be suitable for grey hairs, but I thought it would make a very slight difference. Unfortunately not. I'm an elder Goth who is just starting to go grey at the sides and once the rest of my hair was dyed jet black, the grey parts stood out like a sore thumb. This may or may not be the look you are going for, and whilst it didn't bother me too much - I was disappointed that the dye didn't do anything at all to mute the greys. So would I recommend it? Sure - if you've never used it before, definitely give it a go. The fact that it contains only nice ingredients should be an immediate attraction to the product. But my experience, whilst not a total disappointment, was very much a "meh" experience as I was expecting a lot more. Your mileage may vary, of course...

It will stain everything
Your bathtub and shower will be stained bright pink. I guess it’s ok if you like pink but if you rent your landlord won’t be happy. It will stain your skin as well, this is easier to clean than your bathtub will be. It also made my fingernails purple? And this is yet to come off. The bottle is also tiny for the price. I’d rather pay a hairdresser to tone my hair than go through this dye and bathtub cleaning process again.

Best vegan semi permanent black
I love this black, as a semi permanent colour it works really well over my bright vampire red (manic panic) colour, did my fringe and ends. Tried others like directions (used to work 27 years ago, guess the formula has changed) so as fo a vegan dye in my professional opinion says this is the one to go for.

Really happy with this hair dye! The color turned out vibrant and even, and it was easy to apply. It didn’t have an overwhelming smell like some dyes do, and my hair still felt soft afterward. Fades into really cool colors too

My daughter loves experimenting with fun, trendy hair colors, and this Arctic Fox black dye is her go-to when she’s ready to return to her natural look. It covers beautifully, leaves her hair feeling soft (not fried), and actually conditions while it colors. The black comes out rich and even every time—no weird patchiness. Bonus: it smells way better than typical dyes. Total staple in our house!

We recently tried Arctic Fox Vegan and Cruelty-Free Semi-Permanent Hair Dye, and I can’t say enough good things about it! My 7, 9, and 12-year-olds were thrilled with the results. The colors are incredibly vibrant and fun—perfect for kids who want to express themselves safely and creatively. The formula is gentle and conditioning, which was a huge plus for me as a parent. It’s made with 100% vegan ingredients, free from ammonia, peroxide, alcohol, and PPD, so I felt confident letting my kids use it. Their hair actually felt softer after coloring, which was a pleasant surprise. Application was easy thanks to the creamy texture, and the sweet scent made the whole process enjoyable—no harsh chemical smells. We used it on pre-lightened hair for the brightest results, and the color payoff was amazing. Even on darker strands, it gave a beautiful tint. The dye lasts several weeks with proper care, and it fades gracefully without staining pillows or clothes. Plus, Arctic Fox donates 15% of profits to animal welfare causes, which makes supporting this brand feel even better. For the quality, safety, and ethical values packed into each bottle, this dye is an excellent value. My kids are already asking to try new shades, and I’m happy to keep Arctic Fox as our go-to brand. Highly recommended for families looking for a fun, safe, and vibrant way to experiment with hair color!

Arctic Fox? More like Arctic Flop. I don’t know who lied and said this was a good hair dye, but I want names. I used Transylvania thinking I was about to be THAT girl. What I got instead was a rotting cow smell and hair that bled like a murder scene. It stains everything. your skin, your nails, your floor, your soul. everything except your actual hair. And yes, I’ve tried other colors. Same disaster. Pink? Blue? Red? Cute for the first 20 minutes. After that, it's just a slow descent into stained pillowcases and broken promises. It fades like it’s in witness protection. Two washes and the color ghosted me. All that mess and it’s not even permanent? This dye has commitment issues. Also… who tf approved that scent? Transylvania literally smells like fermented manure. I’m not even exaggerating. It was giving barnyard realness and not in a sexy “Wicked Witch” way. I had to deep clean my bathroom like it was a crime scene. And bleach? That’s the only thing that even tries to undo the destruction this crap leaves behind. Arctic Fox is for people who want cosplay color for one TikTok and never shampoo. Not for people who actually want long-lasting, vibrant, grown-ass hair dye. It’s overhyped garbage. I’ve switched to Clairol permanent dye and suddenly I have color that doesn’t stain my entire existence. My tub’s clean. My hair looks alive. I can sleep on white pillowcases without waking up in a horror movie. If you're looking for real, serious color that lasts? Stay far away from this joke of a brand. Unless you wanna spend the next three weeks scrubbing your ears and crying in the tub.
