Active USB 3.0 Extension Cable 16.4 FT, USB 3.0 Extender Male to Female Cord with Signal Booster Compatible with Oculus Quest 2, Rift Sensor, Steam VR, Gaming PC, 5M

I purchased this along with 3 other DisplayPort and USB extenders (and a DisplayPort coupler) to try to extend the display for my Valve Index. My tests were NOT exhaustive, but all 4 of the options worked. In addition to reviewing this product, I'm also detailing the other options I tested, including price. For anyone else looking to extend their VR system, I hope this helps. In all cases there was no discernable loss of visual or audio fidelity or dropping of frames. Cable length doesn't introduce lag/latency, so no worries there. But ONLY the active DP connector successfully transmitted the signal to the headset successfully / without snow. THIS PRODUCT: USB (5m) ($15.99) - CableCreation Active USB Extension Cable (Long 16.4 FT). Works great, as expected. OTHER PRODUCTS: DisplayPort (10m) ($98.99) - ATZEBE Fiber Displayport Cable 30ft, Fiber Optic Displayport 1.4. This cable diameter is remarkably small, but it performed equally to the 5m LINKUP cable with a wider gauge. The connectors / cable heads produced heat as soon as the cable began transmitting data. This may be by design for thermal management; but if it's not by design this could be problematic. Other than that the cable seems to work perfectly. DisplayPort (5m) ($39.96) - [LINKUP] DisplayPort DP8K DP1.4 Cable (VESA Certified). This cable is kinda thick and very well built. It did the job. USB (10m) ($35.99) - Cable Matters Active USB Extension Cable Male to Female. This worked to extend the VR range even without being plugged in. Note that a power adaptor is NOT included, which legit sucks. But thankfully the Index worked fine without the power boost. DP connector (0m) ($19.99) - Cable Matters DisplayPort Repeater (DisplayPort Signal Booster, DisplayPort Amplifier). This successfully extended the signal an extra 10m for my Valve Index headset. DP connector (0m) ($11.99) - Cable Matters 2-Pack DisplayPort to DisplayPort Coupler. This DID NOT WORK to extend the length of my Index cable. Used this in conjunction with another adapter to add some length to my Quest link cable. It didn't have any issues affecting games, but because it's not a powered extender it is not able to charge the Quest 2 at the same time you are playing. I've since been using it as an extension for my webcam and have had no issues there either.

I needed an extension to a microphone's usb cable when doing a surround sound optimization analysis. The cable length at about 16 feet gave me the flexibility I needed, and more importantly, all readings were transferred from my microphone to my laptop perfectly. It did exactly what was promised. Good quality. Very satisfied.

I bought this cable to extend extent the reach of my Rift headset. When I plugged this cable extender into my motherboards 3.1 Gen 1 USB ports, it was casing constant crashes as other have reported. The Rift headset was also no longer showing up as a playback device. Windows 10 and the Oculus app were flagging "the device" as not working correctly. This was the same port my Rift headset was previously using directly without an issue. However I was able to get the headset, with this extender, working correctly when I plugged it into a USB 3.1 gen 2 port.

I’m an astrophotographer and my usb 3 cable from laptop to cameras was 13ft. I was getting periodic disconnects. After replacing with this cable with 16ft plus 3ft usb b cable. I can run both my Asi533mc and asi120mc through the cable at the same time no problem. Works perfectly.

Perfect for extending the length of the rift cv1, but it is surprisingly chunky

This is a review for multiple items used as a cheap alternative to the official quest link cable. I started off by using Airlink and virtual desktop when I got my quest 2 to play PC VR games. Both software had their pros and cons but I did not like the noticeable lag I got with both even though I have a very good wifi connection. I have seen many reviews complaining that this setup does not work. I'm not sure if they are having a hard time connecting it but I did have trouble at first and this is what I did to fix it. If you have Airlink enabled you have to disable it if you want to connect via link. Next not all USB 3.0 slots will work you have to try every single USB 3.0 port on your motherboard and PC to see which slot works. Item 3: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0179MXKU8?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1 very long extension cable but it does have a coil. this could be easily removed if you stretch it out a bit but if you don't mind the coil then I guess its fine. charge is not fast enough to charge headset while in play. i started playing with my charge at 98% and I played 1 chapter of Half Life Alyx (30-40 minutes), 1 hour of Into The Radius, and 30 minutes of The walking Dead saints and sinners. all these are the most intense games I own. after I was done playing I was at 84% charge. I'm sure there's something on the users end that can be done to prevent the headset from dying while in use and if I can find out how I will update this review. other than that I highly recommend this if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the quest 2 link cable.

I needed an active high speed USB extension cable for planetary astrophotography and this one did the trick. A passive cable would not transmit the signal over a distance of 16 feet and the maker of the camera said I needed an active USB 3.0 cable. The other option would be to use a USB powered hub.

I bought this to extend the cable on an Oculus Rift sensor with the vague sense of dread that comes with knowing it seems to be a bit of a lottery as to whether extension cables are compatible with them. I'd done some research beforehand and signs seemed to be positive so I gave it a go and to my relief it works just fine. It's a thick but still reasonably flexible cable with certainly room for a decent level of shielding inside but I'm not going to hack it in half to check so I'm just going to have to go on performance which has been pretty flawless for what I've needed it to do with no drop-outs of connection and no weird tracking quirks which, to be honest, is enough to convince me this is more than good enough quality for any other kind of use I'd need a USB extension cable for as I generally found the Oculus delighted in dropping connection with the sensor with even the mildest excuse. It also manages to be genuinely hideous to behold with a styling choice that resembles something from an early 90s mini hi-fi system so that's a plus.

J'ai acheté cette rallonge avec un câble USB A vers USB C de chez Anker pour l'utiliser avec un Oculus Quest, et tout va bien, elle ne m'a jamais lâché et à toujours fonctionné à la perfection. Je l'utilise maintenant avec un Quest 2 et je n'ai toujours pas de soucis malgré le fait que le Quest 2 demande plus de bande passante. J'apprécie aussi le fait que la prise tienne bien le câble, mais pas non plus trop. Il m'est arrivé de marcher sur la rallonge et de faire un mouvement en même temps, et cela débranche la prise plutôt que d'arracher le connecteur du câble dans le casque, ce qui est une bonne chose.

Cablecreation Extender arrived in the mail today. I plugged the Quest cable that comes with the Quest into it via a UGreen USBA to C adapter and then plugged the Cablecreation Extension cable into a USB port on my PC. Held my breath, turned the Quest on and immediately started playing a Steam game via Oculus Link. It works perfectly and now I have 8 metres of cable distance. The CableCreation cable is quite thick and solid - I can't believe they are selling this for $ 12 on sale - worth so much more but don't tell them !!! If you want to use Oculus Link and need some cable distance to avoid being tethered too close to your PC and keep hitting your computer desk with the controlllers like I was then do yourself a favour and snap up one of these extenders and turn your Quest into a Rift without the hassle of installing base stations on your wall. Now you've got the best of both worlds. And who would buy a Rift S now ?

I needed a long cable to run through the wall to reach the living room and have enough room to move, even the 16ft cable did not give me that so i gave this a shot. I was amazed it works flawlessly. Here's how i got it to work: i bought this cable extender and this usb3.1 -> c : AmazonBasics Double Braided Nylon USB Type-C to Type-A 3.1 Gen 1 Charger Cable | 10 feet -------------------- At this point, i had some issues with power delivery which caused instability, so i used a usb hub i had with an aux power: Sabrent Premium 4 Port Aluminum USB 3.0 Hub (30" Cable) for iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, or Any PC [Silver] (HB-MAC3) ----------------------- I bought this a long time ago, and iirc correctly it did not come with the aux power cable, although it has the plug, but i had a few around, the trick is you want a USB 3.0 with 5Gbs and a good quality one, obviously make sure you dont plug anything else into it. So, i connected the hub to my VR port on my mother board (any good 3.1 port will do, check device manager if you have to, usually there will be more than 1 port per controller, you want the headset to be the only one plugged into that controller, so if you have 2 ports side by side, usually they share 1 controller, only have 1 plugged in) I powered the usb hub with a power adapter as well, then plugged the extension cable. I ran the extension cable through the wall into the living room and plugged in the extra 10ft cable that goes to C. For a total of 26ft! I played for about an hour without a single issue, i can say this works flawlessly. I attached a screenshot of the test. I get 2Gbs without the extender as well and have proper power delivery to the headset. No jitter, black screen or any other issues, small glitches here and there, but nothing major. MOBO: b450 tomahawk arsenal gaming, ryzen 3600 @4.3, gtx 1070TI -- plays half life alyx perfectly. If you're having issues, it most likely will be the USB port on your motherboard. Good luck! Given how touchy the oculus quest is, i assume this cable will work perfectly for anything else as well.
