For at home use with charcoal or wood chips it's excellent.
For lighting wood chips or charcoal it's the best. No fuel needed, no gross tastes from petrochemicals, and will have chips or charcoal in flame in under 20 minutes. Best used with a charcoal sleeve, but also works just piled into a bbq or lodge grill and left to do it's thing. I was nervous first couple times using it, but the little stand it has, plus the overall length and shape has proven to be quite stable and resistant to bumping or knocking over. Obviously if you have little ones or pets take great care as this will get bright red glowing hot in very little time and stays that way for a while.

The best charcoal lighter l have used.
I have been using this type charcoal lighter for over 25 years. I have not been able to purchase one locally so l found it on Amazon. It is easy to use and there is no lighter fluid taste or smell on your food.

I've used a lot of different starters over the years. I've found this one to be a good value; heats reasonably quickly, it's reasonably well-made - no problems with the handle, no flaking of the heating element - and it cost a good bit less than several I've used.

Lights my coals fast and efficient
I love this Starter it works fast to light my coals, no more fanning coals and pouring lighter fuel on my coals to light them. I have always used and electric starter and got this one because the one I was using for more than 12 years finally quit. Awesome product.

Great oil pan heater
Works great to heat up my oil pan when it's -40 out. It is 500 watts so I can run it the battery warmer and block heater off one outlet. Can't say what it does on charcoal lol. Took a star off because the cord is not flexible at low temperature.

No more wasteful waxes, fluid, papers!
I use it with a slow and sear I bought. Keep the coals nice and toasty and safe while I prep the meal. Be careful when you take it out of the coals and don't knock it against anything as some of the coal dust can shoot back out at your face.
