I loved both Polaris and the first book Avalon
The only complaint I could possibly have is that this is the end of the series. No really, I loved both Polaris and the first book Avalon, and I would have totally enjoyed spending more time in the world Mindi built. Luckily I do have Proxy (the novella) waiting on my kindle, but I really will miss the world once it's done! It's not often that I buy hardcover books anymore, but after reading Avalon on my kindle, I bought both it and Polaris in hardcover. If that doesn't say how much I loved this series, I don't know what will!

A good book if you liked the first one. However, it did feel a little like a sequel just to have a sequel in the end

An absolutely stunning book! (A sequel to Avalon.) Midnee Arnett takes the reader on a heart pounding ride of pure space adventure. If you like Firefly, space pirates or any good coming of age story-- You will not be disappointed in this series.

Sorry to see the ‘tale’ end...a great read! Really glad to have discovered Mindee Arnett. She weaves an amazing story, from start to finish.

I haven't had time to read the book yet but am looking forward to reading this sequel. I loved the first book! I actually bought it to add to the books in my school library.

Abject Misery
Having just barely succeeded in avoiding total disaster at the (non-)ending of the previous book Avalon , having rescued a baby sister he never knew about and learned to his astonishment that his mother is still alive, though in ITA custody, just barely 18 year old Jethro (Jeth) Seagrave, his 13 year old younger sister Liz, his mysteriously powered baby sister Cora, his borderline useless uncle Milton acting as ship's doctor whenever he's sober, and the rest of Jeth's teenage gang of misfits are on their way in their parents' former spaceship Avalon to try and obtain the materials necessary to rescue his mother. Fortunately, that turns out not to be necessary... because things are going to get much, Much, MUCH worse.... On the one hand this book is very cleverly written, even better than Avalon, and the twists and turns will absolutely surprise. On the other hand this book will absolutely depress you. Relentless hardship will be endured... pointlessly. Risky and desperate schemes will be attempted... and fail. Struggles will be made to preserve important items... uselessly. Unending rebellion against all powerful threats will be made... and failed at. Friends counted upon... will ultimately betray, and important people's lives will be desperately struggled for... and lost. Yeah, the good guys ultimately win, but the cost is so high that you will have to remind yourself repeatedly that the good guys won, and what kind of a "happy" ending is that? There is theoretically room for a sequel or sequels, but I have no desire to read them, and by the end of this ordeal, contrary to my initial reaction, I'm actually glad that the prequel ebook Proxy was not included in the paperback editions of either half of this 800+ page slog... because now I don't have to read it. Too bad. Author Mindee Arnett created some fascinating characters in an interesting universe, but by the end she has ground the survivors (and the readers) down to nothing.

Great wrap up to the series.
Polaris is the sequel to Avalon and continues the story of Jeth Seagrave now a wanted criminal with the might of the ITA after him. Jeth just wants to rescue his mother to start a new life out of the confederation however first they must free the Empyrian race which is held prisoner by the ITA who is using them to enable interstellar space travel. Its alot of fun and full of space fights, deals with enemys, new characters who may not be who the first seem, dangerous heists and plenty of tension. Not everyone will make it out of this mission alive but will they be able to rescue Jeths mother and save the Empyrian race before its too late? Not as good as Avalon but a fine ending to the two book series. If you like light science fiction or space operas check it out.
