It was exactly what I wanted it to be. It’s the same thing that I used in physical therapy to help with balance and gait and strength training post hip replacement.

I bought this for a different purpose than most. It appears that balance pads are 1 inch thicker than your average kneeling pad. I have bad knees and needed some support when kneeling to do things around the house. So I bought this product. My new kneeling pad is great. I simulated a complete knee give out and dropped on it with my full weight on both knees. (235lbs 5'9) Left knee only twinged a tiny bit. (And I think that was because my anxiety made me tense up during the fall.) Right knee was perfectly fine. Yay! I won't be falling on it everyday. That was a just in case test. It passed. :) I bought two. One specifically for kneeling to clean my cats litter box. And one for everything else. No difference in structure between colors as far as I can tell. I have both the black and purple. They feel the same. PS: I know having a kneeling pad at 39 makes me sound super decrepit. I don't care. The thing with arthritis (Which I've had in my knees since 1984. Literally since elementary school.) is you need to always be moving. If you let it stop you from doing something eventually you won't ever be able to do that thing again. I need to continue bending my knees to strengthen them up and this thing allows me to do so.

It's just like the one I use in physical therapy, kind of the "home version." Comfortable, effective and looks good-- a keeper.

I used this same thing at physical therapy, so I got this for home workouts. The foam is holding up well with daily use. There are plenty of core strengthening exercises that can be done on this. My favorite is holding a 10 lb kettlebell in one hand just dangling down to your side and raising knees alternating like marching in place, 20 reps and then switch to the other arm for 20 more.
