Not exactly the answer you are looking for, but if I put a credit card on the phone the lip protudes beyond that by about half the thickness of the card.

My understanding is that the Pixel 4a 5G will be physically larger than the newly released Pixel 4a. So no, I would not expect it to fix.

The volume and power buttons are covered by the case, but there are slits. The operation is very positive. I had a different cover that made button action vague. This one is very good.

Does this have as much "grip" as the Spigen thin fit? Concerned about slipperiness

I have not used the thin fit but it looks similar. I like the Rugged Armour case because it's thinner and has a grip at lower price point. I would drop my phone a lot more if it didn't. :)
