It’s the Goldilocks of EDC knives, a true 5-star hall of fame blade.
A review of the Spyderco Delica 4 knife. When I was a kid, I was told the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In this story, the little girl would try out things in the Three Bears home until she found just the right thing she was looking for. Upon choosing the item that fit her best she would say, “It’s just right!” And that my friends, is just what the Spyderco Delica 4 (FFG) is all about, “It’s just right”. So, what makes this knife, “Just Right”, well let me tell you. It’s not too heavy or too light. It’s not too big or too little. (4 ¼ inches closed and 7 ¼ inches overall) It fits small hands or large hands. Its blade is not too long or too short. (three inches total) The blade has a big hole for easy opening. The blade comes very sharp right out of the box. The blade is a true Full Flat Grind aka FFG. It has a great functional pocket clip. The pocket clip can be put on either side and on either end. The knife is just the right size for cutting or peeling all your fruits and vegetables. (This is my number one use for this knife and it’s truly outstanding in this application.) The knife can be had in a lot of great colors. (But the colors do change from year to year, so if you see a color you like order it while you can. I chose blue, my wife has a pink one.) The scales (handle) has a great grip texture, that of course, is not too rough or too smooth. The scale pattern provides a good grip even when wet. Now let me tell you I have not always been a Spyderco fan. I mean “Spyderco” it’s just not a knife name I grew up with. I am old school, a real knife was a Buck, a Case, or a Boker. You know US or German knives like your Dad or Grandfather carried in their pockets and passed down to their children. I still own those brands and love them but they are not even what I carry now. Now, after carrying and using pocket knives for over 50 years, I want something light weight, sharp, easy to re-sharpen, easy to carry and easy to open with one hand. I want that “Goldilocks Knife” and in the Spyderco Delica 4, I think I just may have found what I have been looking for. Don’t let your porridge get cold before you order one for yourself! Take care, Your Ol' Uncle Sawberry.

incredible edc knife
incredibly sharp out of the box. very tight tho, had to loosen the hinge a bit. solid but lightweight, great for pocket carry, but the pocket clip sucks, dunno why all spydercos don't just come with deep carry clips

Industry Standard for Outdoors and EDC
This is a high quality cutting tool that's perfect for hiking, backpacking, or everyday carry ("EDC")--but if you're in the market for something tactical, look elsewhere. There are a number of features make this knife more lightweight than similar models offered by other brands. Most notably, the blade has a great full flat grind ("FFG") edge, as opposed to a more traditional saber grind, which cuts down on the weight of the steel and makes for a sharper edge at the cost of some degree of blade strength. So it should be noted that while you might be able to get away with abusing the durability of your other blades by attempting tasks like prying, I wouldn't recommend trying the same with this model. That being said, this knife is VG-10 steel and fully capable of any outdoor cutting tasks while you're on the trail or setting up camp. Overall, the FFG VG-10 blade is one of the best features of this product--and the reason I prefer it to say, a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. Similarly, the handle's fiberglass-reinforced nylon ("FRN") is somewhat unconventional, and further reduces the overall weight without sacrificing purchase. The biggest surprise to me about this knife was how "grippy" the handle felt compared to others I've owed. The steel liner inside of the handle is even skeletonized, which makes it lighter than a full steel liner, but stronger than a plastic liner. The Delica 4 and Endura 4 are Spyderco's two best sellers for a reason: the price, quality, and weight firmly cement the products as industry standards. You just won't find a better outdoor or EDC knife for the price.

Very good lightweight folder.
I first ordered the Spyderco Endura4 but found it to be too large for my tastes. I sent it back(without a hitch, Amazon customer service is great,) and opted to order one of the smaller versions. The Delica4 with Blue FRN handle. I'm very happy. It is attractive, well built, easy to operate and is RAZOR SHARP. This knife came even sharper than my Kershaw Leek, which is saying something. The blade polish is high and attractive, and the opening action is very smooth. The VG-10 steel is great, keeping a great edge and resisting corrosion. My only gripe is that with a high polish the blade is a fingerprint and smudge magnet. The FRN handle feels flimsy and doesn't inspire confidence, but actually has held up extremely well. It is light and has good grip. The fully reversible pocket-clip is a great addition, as it comes in a blade-up position and I like a tip-up position. It is very lightweight as well, coming in at a sparse 2.4oz! The size, 4.25in closed and a 2.9in blade, is about perfect for an EDC knife. The lock-back mechanism is solid, but I'd have preferred a liner-lock type for easy closing. Jimping on the blade is good, but on the handle is worthless. The knife is made in Japan, and the craftsmanship is great. PROS: *Incredibly sharp. *Great steel. *Opening action is nice and smooth. *Deceivingly tough and attractive handle material. *Adjustable pocket-clip. *Extremely lightweight. *Perfect size for comfortable carry. *Price! Hard to find a better value for the money. *Made in Seki City, Japan. CONS: *Blade is magnet for fingerprints and smudges. *Jimping on handle for the thumb is useless. Needs to be slightly more aggressive. *While lock-back is good and solid, I prefer a frame- or liner-lock. As you can see, The pros outweigh the cons, and I really had to sink to just personal preferences and nit-picking perfectly fine features to find any cons. It is a great knife and is designed for simple, everyday function. Highly recommended.

This is a great knife. but
This is a great knife. but. Here's the deal. I bought this because it was a great knife, & it is. Just doesn't suit my purposes. If your a dude that would like to have an EDC knife for work, or out, or whatever, think about a couple things first. If you're not paying attention to where you're going that day, be prepared to have it confiscated. Normally you get it back, but not always. If your seriously wanting to carry a knife everyday, you better to be willing to lose it. Also, if you have to wear dress clothes to work, the clip and body of this knife can be rough on dress pants. Jeans fine, dress pants no. I haven't found it yet, but the dream knife would look good, be functional (assisted opening), made with decent steel, a handle that's a little less aggressive, maybe wood, a clip that somehow works without being so stiff, is light weight, has a blade length less than 3", sits very low in your pocket, and costs $40 or less. Whoever invents that will get rich. Unicorn knife.

Spyderco, Simply the Best!
This was my first Spyderco knife and boy is it handsome. I had a hard time deciding if it was to short I almost bought the Endura but this size is just perfect! the Endura would be to big. I am turning 19 in December and my hands are average in size I would say. I bought this knife for $52 and it's worth it I'd say. Only complaint, that's not actually a complaint with the product, is when I sliced a water bottle in half I hit my knife on the concrete and dulled the front half of it. it still can cut though. On paper, only the front half, it kind of tears the paper instead of the factory sharpness that slices so good on the bottom half. And this was just yesterday I've had it for a month. But The knife is super sturdy and feels really good in the hand. I love the blue frn handle and the black clip. The blade just looks awesome and slices so good. I'm about to buy the Spyderco sharpmaker kit so I'll be able to get that super sharpness back that I love. Also, I just purchased the Spyderco Ladybug 3 H-1 Rust Free Serrated Edge Knife, Yellow version for when I visit my brother in Florida. Another amazing knife!

This is my EDC.
I love Spyderco knives, and while this isn’t my favorite knife they make, it’s definitely the one I use 90% of the time. Pros: decent edge retention, easy to sharpen, strong enough for most situations, small and easy to carry, easy to clean, disassemble, and do maintenance on. Cons: slightly weak tip, nothing to be concerned about, but I had a about a 1/32nd-1/64th ” chip come out of the cutting edge. It was easy to sharpen out, but I feel it’s worth mentioning if it’s a deal breaker for some. It’s decent-quality stainless steel, but is not rust proof. Mine developed the tiniest rust spot after about three months of owning it. This was during the summer months when I sweat more, and I hadn’t coated the blade with anything, but it did polish off easily. I spray blade with a little dry lube every 6 months or so and it doesn’t develop any new rust spots, and the small one that I got initially hasn’t intensified at all. Note: I purchased this before they ever released the PM3, which is now my favorite for several reasons, but as that knife cost 4-5x the price of this one, this is still the best choice for someone looking for a quality EDC under $100. It’ll likely outlast you, so it’s well worth the price to step up from the $30 knives, and get the value of a $100 knife. Highly recommended!

A great quality budget knife with good Japanese steel
This is what is expected from Spyderco. A great quality budget knife with good Japanese steel. It is super sharp out of the box, but with a proper stropping, it is now light saber sharp. It makes me want to battle Obi-wan. The detent is a little tight though. This knife will not be a swift thumb or middle finger pop open like a Benchmade, but it is really easy to one-hand open/close regardless. It's only a difference of a fraction of a second or so in my opinion, and if you need to open a knife that fast, you are a hooligan, a mugger, or a republican (just kidding with the last one, go grandpa Bernie Sanders!). Either way, the detent just needs a minor adjustment and the knife will open up like butter and close with a flick of your wrist with your index or middle finger to choil-brake the blade from karate chopping you. The balance on the knife is pretty even as well and the grip is standard Spyderco woven nylon bi-directional grippy and light weight. Had my eye on the Hap-40 delica but since it was a sprint run, had to settle for the blue VG-10 delica 4. No disappointment what so ever. Just grab a sheet off a GQ magazine with Justin Beiber and push cut to verify 60 bucks well spent.

Griff eher so lala
Für den Preis und wie das Messer gehypt wird muss ich sagen finde ich die verarbeitung des Griffs eher Mittelmässig. An vielen Kanten sieht man sehr feine Überreste vom Druckguss was nicht so wertig aussieht.
