Love these rum cakes! Very moist and flavourful, and they don’t skimp on the rum! First tried these after getting them at a local store, then never saw them there again.

These are basically sponge cakes with a nice flavoring (rum for example). They seem to have a long shelf life, and taste great right out of the box. However, we like the versatility of how you can "Doctor them Up" for an elegant dessert with almost zero effort. Slice them in layers and put nuts and maple syrup on them. Make the slices with fresh fruit like strawberries or bananas and whipped cream, or ice cream. Or pour more alcohol on them (and nuts and/pr alcoholic cherries) and light it on fire. They are super good sliced thin, buttered and put in the toaster oven. Each cake makes one huge dessert, or two normal sized.

You can definitely taste the rum! (And smell it, too!) The cake was moist, and tasted great with whipped cream and strawberries in sugar syrup. Then it becomes Chocolate Daiquiri Cake. The rum did overwhelm any chocolate flavor, but still good enough for a 5-star review. I'll be trying the other flavors.

A delicious rum cake, not a bad gift choice but a little small

Tortuga cakes are the best (rum) cakes I have ever purchased. Fresh, moist and very tasty. They will be my go to cakes from now on. I have tried the coconut and cinnamon and raisins. Both were great.

I am a diabetic. And I don't know if I should ever buy this cake again. Because you can't just eat 1 bite. You can't just eat 1 slice. You actually sit there and almost eat the whole entire thing. Even though you know it's going to put you in a diabetic coma, because it's so freaking delicious. You can't stop eating it. It is impossible to put down the spoon or fork or whatever it is you're using to eat it with. I used a spoon. Cause this is what I had on me at the time and I'm telling you, it is so freaking good, I didn't know what to do because I was not expecting it to be that moist and spongy and full of flavor I mean, you could taste the rum, the coconut, the. I am buying these for Christmas and giving them out as Christmas gifts. And I think I'm going to buy 2 for Thanksgiving and put it on the Thanksgiving table and serve it with custard and put a bowl of custard in the middle and the people can put the custard on their cake, but you don't even need that because it's so. Delicious II believe if I take this to Thanksgiving. Everybody's gonna be fighting over who gets another slice. Not not who gets a slice or not. Who gets another slice? Cuz? You're never satisfied with just one slice of this cake. I am not kidding if you love ROM, and you love coconut. And you love spongy, moist softness. That is not too sweet, but not under sweet. It's not over wet, it's not under, it's not dry, definitely. It's, I'm telling you it was perfection, perfection, perfection, perfection. Except if you're diabetic, because I did suffer from it and um. I would do it again knowing it's going to make me sick because it's that delicious. 🤧 i wish you made bigger ones for bigger families to share in holiday times because is this one? It's not big enough, it's just not big. Enough please make it bigger.

We bought these as a gift. They come individually boxed (and wrapped individually in each box); then boxed as 6 boxes in a larger box that is beautiful for gift-giving. I really appreciated the presentation. I also love that they don't have to eat the whole gift at once. Each little cake is kept fresh until it's opened and there are six different flavors to enjoy over time. Since these were a gift, I didn't try them personally, but the recipient tried once of them right away and responded that it was "realllly good". All in all, I considered this purchase a hit.

I was a little disappointed with the Taste of Florida batch. I have now tried one of each flavor and while the flavor is good, the cakes are dry....not moist like the regular flavor variety style of Tortuga rum cakes. The date is earlier that my others, but still at least 3-4 months out. If it's the date that is a problem, they shouldn't sell them with a close date. I wish these had been as good as the others. I'm not sure if these would be a repeat purchase, because of the dryness.

Bought this a few times now. Lovely and moist. Delicious. Rather expensive so only bought for special occasions.

. I have bought this cake, plus the Cinnamon Raisin one, annually for over a decade since discovering them in the Caribbean. I’m not a lover of Christmas cake and this is my alternative. It is seriously yummy as it is, or even more so if slightly microwaved and served as a pudding with coconut ice-cream or double-cream. This year, due to the pandemic and being unable to visit people and definitely NOT wanting to queue in the Post Office but to keep as safe as possible, I decided to do all my Christmas gift shopping on-line. So amongst my Christmas List, on Saturday last, 5th December I bought eight of these Tortuga Rum and coconut cakes and had each shipped directly to the recipient. (I’d already bought mine!!) A few days previously I had paid posted their Christmas Cards with an added pretty typed message inside it to let them know that a ‘Taste of Sunshine’ was on its way to them. I also added a personal gift tag!! Most arrived the next day, Sunday (with AmazonPrime); a couple are arriving today, Monday 7th (depending on Post Code) with one shipped to Northern Ireland arriving tomorrow (Tuesday 8th). Not bad bearing in mind I ordered on a weekend. So far they’ve been received very well as I’ve already had a few “thank you” WhatsApp video calls. I might well repeat this again next year - even though the Covid-19 situation will hopefully be sorted and not be relevant. So ....... a very wonderful cake and very much recommended. .
