I'm quite pleased with the quality, weight, durability and mechanics of this safe. My 1911 and a spare mag fit nicely, with room for other small items. The keypad and finger print reader have so far worked flawlessly. And it bolts easily to a platform. I have read the review and watched the "instructional video" (thanks for that, by the way...) covering how to break into this safe, and I will attempt a modification accordingly. That being said, for what it is, it's a fine product.

I got two of these, one for each floor, and they provide enough space for one handgun with spare ammo, quick access, and peace of mind. I have a big safe that can withstand determined attack for longer than these quick access boxes, but the big safe can’t be accessed as fast as these. Sure, these won’t stop determined attacker, I can open these without keys/code/fingerprint at least three different ways. But these are not designed to withstand a determined attack. These are designed to provide you quick access to your firearms in convenient location, while preventing children from accessing the firearms or buying you extra time if robbers happen to find one of these while you are in a different room with firearm in one hand and phone in the other.

I wanted something I could put on my nightstand that would be easily accessible yet still extremely secure as I have two toddlers running around my house. The safety of my children will always be my first concern, and this safe has really calmed my fears about a gun in the house. It has three options to open so if you are panicked and can’t remember your code, you can scan your finger or use the key to open it. Everything is as described, would highly recommend this safe to anyone with a handgun.

UPDATED almost a year and a half later: After having this for a year and rarely using it, the code doesn't even work anymore and wouldn't open the safe. Second, the fingerprint as I mentioned previously is so ridiculously unreliable. If your hands are dry, or have even the slightest roughness or cracks, the fingerprint won't work. DO NOT RELY on this safe in case of an emergency, it's so unreliable. Honestly, it's junk. I have a Vaultek gun safe for my second gun that my son bought me and it's so much more reliable. This Century safe is going in the trash and I'm buying another Vaultek. First, the fingerprint is not all that reliable. If your hands are too dry from all the alcohol and hand washing these days, it will affect how well the fingerprint option works. Using fingers that I don't use as much as my index finger on my left hand instead of my right hand (I'm right handed), I find it works better because those fingers are less dry... but still, you have to place your finger precisely which isn't a great option when under duress. They need to improve the fingerprint sensitivity. Don't rely on it. The inside light could be just a bit brighter, it doesn't offer that much light at all. It opens pretty quick with the code. It's brand new so I'm not sure what will happen with the gas strut over time after reading some of the other reviews.

Fingerprint reader stopped working and reset button is not where the manual says it should be. Can’t use fingerprint anymore only keypad and key

I wasn't expecting to use the biometric as the primary access means, but it works very well. The keypad also works very well. The opening mechanism and the light are slick. And the padding inside is very nice. Nice sturdy little box, and for what I was wanting it for it works great.
