Can this guitar handle the tension of pair strings instead of octaves or will it damage the guitar?

It is best to tune any 12 string to a half below concert pitch, but I never have. Eventually the bridge always starts pulling up. Any 12 I ever had did this after a few years. I had one of these, and it was a decent guitar.
