Is this vegetable tanned leather? Review below claims that it is not

What type of glue would you recommend for attaching it to timber block??

I did not glue it, instead I made a flat pine board, about 10 inches long, and wide enough for the strop. At one end I attached a cross piece, held in place by two countersunk bolts, (6mm x 60mm), and fastened by wingnuts. These can be released whenever it may become necessary to remove or replace the strop. I found this to be simple and effective.

How big is the particle size in the compound?

not that big, i ordered extra pieces at the same time, not too expensive, if you use it a lot. The piece provided won't last long.
