Great kettle with excellent performance
This Haden Salcombe kettle looks stylish in black and boils water very quickly with its fast 3KW power. It’s quiet, smell nice, functionality, easy to use, and the 1.7L size is perfect for everyday needs. The stainless steel build feels high quality and offers great value for money. Very happy with this purchase.

Very classy!
What a gorgeous kettle! But apart from looking beautiful..... it seems to do its job pretty well too. It's lightweight, boils very quickly and has the most perfect pouring spout of any kettle I have ever owned. I was a bit reluctant to buy a kettle that has the gauge under the handle, but it is easy enough to see with the numbers in black and is just a matter of getting used to I think. The other thing I will have to get used to is not being able to see when the water boils, having had glass kettles for several years. It does have an auto shut-off, but I find kettles usually boil for ages before shutting off and I have always shut them off manually. Using less water it is quite easy to hear when it is boiling, and also it shakes about a bit once boiling! The lid isn't hard to get off, but it does splash water everywhere if you just yank it as I did the first time. We live and learn! I think though that I will fill it from the spout in future, especially as I only fill it to just above the minimum level nowadays. As some people have commented on the funny taste, I did boil it once with white vinegar and water, and then with water only, prior to using it for the first time and there seemed nothing wrong after that. It's an absolutely lovely kettle, and with a two-year guarantee I think you can't really go wrong. UPDATE: I've had this kettle for just over four months and now the black paint is starting to chip off. I have no idea why this is happening as the kettle is only moved from its base to my mug right next to it and is filled with a jug, not at the tap, so absolutely nothing is knocking against it. This is extremely disappointing as it is very noticeable (being black) and looks horrible.

Nice quality
Nice looking, nice quality kettle. I've seen other reviews about the handle feeling weak when the kettle is full. I haven't noticed this. The handle feels strong, so maybe that issue has been fixed. Not particularly quiet but does boil reasonable quickly. The only issue I've had is that the kettle leaked from just below the water level indicator, dripping directly onto the switch. I haven't seen any other reviews with that issue so it's likely was a one-off. Contacted Amazon and had to deal with their chatbot which was rubbish but once I got through to a real person, they were really helpful and without any quibbles, agreed to send out a replacement, with no requirement to send the old kettle back.

Unfortunately bad
Unsure if my kettle is defective or if it is just down to poor quality build. Lookswise this kettle is lovely, & for a tome it did boil water. I found it often seemed to spit water out the top even if boiling much less than the max fill line would indicate. This morning I came down to make a cuppa & found the kitchen bench covered in water. The kettle has sprung a leak under the fill lines. Video attached. I bought the kettle when we moved 24th August 2025 (image) & it has given up as I write this review 25th January 2026 (video). I would not recommend this kettle, my previous kettle lasted jusy shy of 10 years & several home moves, and this one has barely managed 6 months.
