Can this be used on cone 6?

Yes, Velvet Underglazes can be fired from cone 05 - cone 10. There will be some color variances at different firing temps though, especially in the purples / pinks. See this color chart for color comparisons. Can I use this to get a white-washed look over red terra cotta clay?

Yes it is perfect for that. One coat outta do it. Maybe two.

Is this same white used on chinese porcelain?

This can be used on clay or porcelain firing to cone 05-10.
