Great Coat Rack - Worth the Purchase Price
I'm pretty happy with this purchase and the price I paid for it. I ordered the WHITE version, and it arrived within a few days. It was easy to put together w/pre-drilled holes (only tool I needed was a Phillips screwdriver). I assembled it by myself in about 30 minutes in front of the TV while watching Charlie & the Chocolate Factory with my kids (the Gene Wilder version - still holds up!). I immediately put 12 coats on it, including 3 large ski jackets and a couple of sweater-type jackets. The rack is very sturdy, and I have no concerns that it will not continue to support the weight of what has been placed on it. The painted wood could have used another coat, but honestly, for what I paid and for the fact that this is solid wood (and not cheap metal), I'm really pleased overall. The top spins easily, and is a cool feature. It also comes w/4 rubber protection pieces for the bottom feet, which will protect flooring (love this feature, as we have stained concrete in the room where we placed this item). Pro Tip for putting it together (as the instructions are in pic format only) - be sure to separate the long screws from the short screws - you use up most of the short screws first when building the top (I mistakenly grabbed a long screw first and realized after screwing it in that I needed a short screw, so unscrewed and started over - took a minute only, but wasted effort). Also, be sure when you're putting the bottom stand pieces together that you face the bottom pieces w/the pre-drilled screwing component for the rubber footers towards the ground - I accidentally screwed the first one on upside down, and realized my mistake when I went to put on the little rubber footers, and had to unscrew and screw again with that feature facing the ground.

it looked quite nice--it's got a great shape, and looks perfect in our entryway
I was worried this coat rack was a little cheap when I opened the box (the pieces are very light), but once I put it together, it looked quite nice--it's got a great shape, and looks perfect in our entryway. Even though it's on the lighter side, it's been nice and sturdy so far. We have about 10 jackets and one heavy wool winter overcoat hanging on it with no problems. And being that it IS lighter, it's extremely easy to move. It's not hard to put together, but as other reviewers have noted, some of the holes don't line up correctly. I strongly recommend not tightening the screws all the way at first--just twist them in enough to keep them from falling out--and then tighten them all the way once you've got everything aligned. The wood does have some flex, but if you screw it completely on one side, it may not have enough give for the screws to align on the other side. I had to undo two of the pieces and re-screw them because of this, so save yourself some time by lining everything up in advance.

Great item for the price
I was somewhat reticent to order based on a couple of reviews. Item arrived as promised, packed well and with no damage. Assembly was straight forward as per enclosed diagram and instructions. One negative comment was regarding poor craftsmanship and another about holes not lining up. I experienced none of that. I would suggest to anyone assembling this item to follow the instruction and do not tighten all the screws right away. This provides the flexibilty to get screws and holes lined up and then go back and tighten them all. Also, remember, this is soft wood, so only snug screw "2-fingers tight" so as not to strip. As for not standing straight, I am not sure that person was aware that the screw-in feet on bottom are to adjust for uneven floors and level the hat tree and eliminate any wobble. Mine took about 20 minutes to assemble, looks great, stands straight without a wobble and works fine. Just what I was hoping for.

Works fine, assembly can be a problem.
I ordered this coat rack for my office and received it today. It looks nice, and works fine, but we had some trouble with assembly. Pieces with hole drilled that just need to be screwed together seems simple enough. Typically it is. However, what began as me and the pieces and a screwdriver soon evolved into me, the pieces, a coworker, and a power drill. Some of the pre-drilled holes were not deep enough for the screws, which didn't allow the screws to go in all the way. Others were located in the wrong place or didn't line up correctly. Enter the power drill. Drilled a couple new holes to line things up right. Should have drilled more. One of the pre-drilled holes on one of the rings was so close to the edge there may not be sufficient wood to hold the screw in for long. We got it put together, but we're concerned the screws are going to come loose and strip the wood on their way out. The instructions are minimal, and really this should be a simple enough project to not need much explanation. As long as you consult both sides you should be able to figure out which screws go where. I got it figured out, but more details would have been helpful. Bottom line is it's a somewhat cheaply manufactured piece that may end up working fine or could wear out and be a complete disaster.

I purchase a lot of things from Amazon and almost always end up extremely satisfied. This is the rare exception when I feel compelled to write a negative review. The various other reviews that talk about the holes not lining up and instructions that are just a one page picture .. are all true. Don't get me wrong, it is actually simple to put together and really do not need more then the picture instructions (except for a few areas) but the holes simply do not line up. This has to be the worst construction of cheap furniture that I have ever seen. You end up just making your own holes and praying that the "wood" does not crack which it does because it does not appear to be real wood. I realize this was relatively inexpensive but I was expecting something that was a little more solid. This wood feels cheap almost like particle board and once assembled, you can tell immediately that it will not hold winter jackets without tipping over or breaking. As others have also said, the finish is cheap looking. This is nothing like I expected. I think I knew immediately after opening the box I made a mistake. I started putting it together and almost repacked it to send it back but continued forward. I do not know what I will do with it now and wish I would have just sent it back. It looks and feels to cheap to put in my living room and I know it will not actually hold up with even just a few coats on it. Save your money and find a solid coat rack. This is not it.

Looks good, and hasn't fallen over yet
I was hoping it would look more like an antique but you can tell it is modern. At least it is shaped like the antique ones. Assembling it is rather fiddly and you have to adjust and re-do until you get it just right. It holds several coats or hoodies and does not tip over. It rotates, so you can grab the coat in the back corner easily. You can tuck umbrellas or canes in the bottom part. Overall, quite satisfactory.

Good item for the price
I am rating this in comparison with items of a similar price point. Frankly, I am embarrassed for the people whining in their reviews that it isn't wood and it is painted, not stained. It is under $45! It is exactly what I needed and exactly what I expected for the price. I put my white rack in my bedroom for robes, purses, scarves and such. As for putting it together, I had no problem. However, when you put the top part together, put all the screws in loosely and do not tighten until they are all in. Same with the bottom part. In fact, for the bottom I would put the legs and rings together first, still loosely, then put the pole in the middle. They even included an extra screw in each size. In other words, don't expect to get prime rib for the price of a hamburger.

A must buy for the price you are paying.
Writing this review after 10 years of purchasing this product, but its one of the best coat stands I have ever had. The product still looks great, no wear and tear, no natural degrade of wood, nice and light and easy to move.

Looks nice and seems sturdy
We bought the white one because it was the cheapest of the options, and it looks good. Took about half an hour to assemble and the parts are not marked, but it was straightforward. It seems sturdy, except for the top where the hooks are. It turns around so that piece just slides in and seems a little wobbly. We might use wood glue to keep it stationary. Haven't decided yet. I'll update this review if we encounter any problems. Assembled today and so far so good.

Serves the Purpose Well
I needed extra space to hang coats in the entrance without getting a big piece of furniture. This Coat Rack is exactly what I wanted and for the reasonable price, serves the purpose well and looks quite nice. It's not made of heavy wood pieces but sturdy enough to hold several coats, purses etc. Assembling it wasn't exactly easy, but not too difficult either. It would be handy if the assembly came with a proper sized screw driver but I managed with what I had.
