Cap fit well onto Leica d-lux 8, and is tight enough. Biggest problem was first removing front ring from camera, which is necessary for d-lux 8: Filter removal wrench did not work. However, jar lid remover provided better leverage and got front ring to move and come off. I keep both tools on hand for those once a year problems with difficult to unscrew camera filters. Problem is fault of Leica, which supplied a metal auto cap with their previous model, the d-lux 7 but substituted a front metal ring and regular plastic cap on new d-lux 8. Had to search Internet for front ring removal solution, as JJC video skipped that step and proved useless. Nonetheless, recommend JJC cap, as same front ring removal problem on d-lux 8 will confront you even if you buy the hard-to-find $90 Leica brand plastic cap. Note: Leica d-lux 7 metal auto cap is interchangeable with JJC cap.

I purchased this for my d-lux 8, and it works as advertised, fits well on the lens, and opens/closes easily. I did notice that the flanges of the cap do rub against the barrel of the lens more than I would like when they open/close. That being said, I ended up going ahead and purchasing the OEM one because as useful as the JJC one was was, I did not like the fact that the ends of the flanges (where they connect to the ring) sticks out from the cap itself. To me, the low profile of the OEM one, where the cap is entirely circular and they don't stick out just looks better. The JJC cap also looks precisely like what it is, plastic, as opposed to the OEM which is a metal ring on the exterior. The pictures attached are the JJC and the OEM Leica for comparison. Still, considering the cost of the OEM, this is a useful cap that will serve your needs well enough. I am not currently using a filter, so I cannot comment on how well it works with one of those.

High quality that fits and works with a uva filter on front. Great value compared to Leica brand. Only time will tell if it holds up.

Update Sept 27: On my first outing with new camera and this lens cap, the cap fell off spontaneously three times, and on the third time I lost it. This cap is much too loose and is poorly made. I wouldn't buy it. Originally posted: It works as you'd expect, but on my D-lux 7 it doesn't fit as snugly as I'd like. I expect that sooner or later it's going to fall off when I change aperture or focus. Not particularly well made, but a great price.

I've been using it for a week now and it works like a charm. I've been pleasantly surprised by the fact that I could fit an UV filter to protect the lens and it still closes perfectly. Not to mention the added bonus that it makes the lens look more purposeful. I just hope it is sturdy enough to pass the test of time.

Directions for mounting the lens cap are online and not with the product. Product seems to work fine.

Nice design, I would have loved to use it but the fit was just not right, I was afraid it would fall off anytime. I’m sorry to return it.

A lot of reviews say that it doesn’t fit the Dlux8 but the thread protection ring needs to come off and it’ll fit perfect. Another thing I’ve read a lot is that it’s a loose fit but if you give it another twist you’ll hear it click on tight.

ho una Leica D-7, e si adatta perfettamente. Il copriobiettivo in dotazione è carino ma è scomodo copriobiettivo, rischi di perdere tutti i momenti. Con questo il problema è risolto. Funziona alla perfezione, rapido, preciso. Ottimo. Non mi sembra dia problemi di ingresso polvere. Credo si debba stare più attenti all'acqua, perchè ha davanti due fessure, che chiudono bene ma non sono come il tappo fisso. Io però non porto la Leica sotto la pioggia. o in spiaggia...

Work perfectly using a Gobe (ex-Urth) UV/NC filter. I was afraid it won't, but it does work exactly as expected. Used on Leica DLux8.
