This zester is a good quality, sharp, and easy on the hands. Good deal and doesn't have the plastic grip like most. This thing will zest with a quick stroke across the top.

I don't often write reviews, but this thing inspired me to. I read other reviews that said they didn't miss the handle, so I took a chance. I admit that it required a little creativity to figure out the best grip for my hand personally, but the joyful part came when I slid a fresh chunk of pecorino romano down the length of this very sharp tool to then watch the snowfall of fine, soft cheese float down to the waiting porcelain collection dish. So easy, so efficient. And made in America, baby! Excellent quality. I might actually score a bunch for Christmas prezzies...

I purchased the same thing about 30 years ago when the plane made the transition from carpentry to kitchen - it cost me $30 in those days and after so many years of use and abuse it finally was time to replace it - this one is exactly the same thing as the one of 30 years ago, just at 1/3 of price - what a bargain! There are many shapes and sizes but this is the original, perfect for hard cheese, nuts, garlic, onion and so many others ... easy to wash, no cuts from the sides and no aromas left behind - Microplane is still THE grater to buy and from them all, this simple one is the most multi purpose and best value out there ... enjoy Update July 18-2018: I noticed that few from the reviews have been disappointed from a lack of a handle. This design is best if the grater is placed flat on top of a bowl, plate, etc.; This way you have best position for grating (the most force without pushing hard) and the safest for your fingers. I do have a few with handles but those need to be either hand held or leaning on something (the cutting board, plate, etc.) which means I grate with my arm at an angle, my arm gets tired, I need to push more that I should which means that I could get nipped by the grates - so I love the simple and safe design

It works a treat but I wish it was a slightly thicker stock for the material. The length of it allows twist, which sometimes upsets consistency at speed if you're a clever chef. Otherwise, solid as a rock, hasn't let me down a bit and would ride again. Maybe at a shorter length for home so it doesn't twist.

Been using my 2 of these for 20+ years, LOVED THEM. They do citrus zest, nutmeg, chocolate and cheese no problem. I just decided to get new ones because mine had finally dulled. I have never missed the handle, never had a problem with the sleeve shaving off plastic bits. The person who cut the sleeve in half to make a handle of sorts - genius!!

When these first came out and chefs raved about them, I bought one, loved it, and started buying them as gifts: they are light and take no space in a suitcase so brought them to friends when traveling. They always become their favorite kitchen item too. I like these handle-less ones as I will rest them across the top of a bowl when grating. They just need a quick rinse and dry quickly. Great product.

Con mango será mucho más cómodo y ergonómico, pero creo que este es mejor para una cocina profesional ya que el mando o las uniones pueden ser nidos para gérmenes. No se me ocurre una razón por la que comprar un rallador que no sea Microplane. Quizá no sean los más baratos, pero es una herramienta para toda la vida.

I have seen chefs on TV using these for a while and you just can not get them on the high street well not mine anyway and I just had to have one. This is a zesters dream, not only does it remove all the zest from your citrus fruits and all of it - it does it without removing the pith. And no more zesting your fingers or knuckles like when using those nasty box graters. I have also used it on garlic and hard cheese with good results, and it cleans up with no fuss. A foodies dream present as it makes cooking less stressful if you have the right tools for the job. Definitely will recommend.
