Great Air Pump
I have three of these, one each on my 20 gallon, 29 gallon and 40 gallon aquariums. The 40 and 29 and about 3 feet from my bed and very, very quiet (I'm a light sleeper). I'd definitely recommend this product.*Update: I just bought a new 55 gallon and unplugged the air pump to move it (did NOT try to unhook, it just required moving fully assembled) and I look down and the nozzle is broken. I never touched it after hooking it up that 1st time, yet it snapped. I'd like to buy a replacement but I fear this is going to happen again after reading the other reviews. I'll have to find a better built brand.**Update:HOW TO FIX IF THE NOZZLE/NIPPLE BREAKS OFF:The nozzle is only surrounded arbitrarily by the 3 corner shell (what you see from the outside). The shell serves no purpose mechanically. The nozzle extends well into the air pump. Simply break the 3 sided shell (plastic facade) off with some pliers and just slip the tubing back on. It's only an illusion that the nozzle is that short (the part sticking out). If you take the 4 little screws out and open it up you'll see what I mean. It's back up and running, same output.UPDATE: March 17th. I haven't had anymore problems with the air pump since making the adjustment.

finally a quiet air pump that puts out
This is a super little pump. Not silent, but very quiet. Quieter than all the rest, and I've tried every brand. Its good for a mid-sized tank. If you've got less than 20 gallons, you may want to go with the 75, which is even a little bit quieter and still puts out enough for a small tank. I've got this 100 in a 26 gallon and a 36 gallon. I've got a 200 on order to see how it works in the 60 gallon. I found the 100 a bit underwhelming in the 60, and I'm still using a Whisper there.UPDATE JAN 2012: Although my first couple of these pumps were really quiet, the rest have not been nearly so quiet. And my original two are no longer quiet either. They are pretty much average noise level as air pumps go. My Whisper 20 is quieter than these Marina pumps. In fact, my Whisper 20 is quieter now in its second year of use than it was in its first year. I saw where Eheim was making air pumps now, but they are not available in America. Since their filters are almost silent, I wonder if their air pumps are too, and if they might import them in the future? Why can't someone make a quiet air pump?--I would happily pay a good deal more for a silent one.

Air flow and noise level
I am using this to remove dust created from cutting and routing wood and shell for inlay work. It has just enough air flow created and is pretty quiet with just a very light hum. I took the word thickness in the rating features to mean strength of air flow.

Noisy and I stopped using it after a week.
I purchased this based on other reviews. The most important criteria for buying this pump was that reviewers said it was very quiet. I found this to be totally false. It exceeded my other pumps in the irritation delivered by its noise. I had it in my kitchen on the countertop for brine shrimp. I had to shut it off when I was in the kitchen it was so irritating. I went back to my Sonic 201. The Sonic 201 is a tiny pump, the cheapest on the market and it is the most quiet. It is very light weight so hanging it by the tube will prevent vibration noise. The Marina 100 air pump has little rubber cushion feet. I even tried surrounding this pump with acoustic sound proof foam squares to stop the noise from going beyond the pump area and it made no difference. The hassle of returning this is not worth it. I will keep it as a backup in case my little Sonic fails. Eventually they all fail.

good air pump
I got this air pump for my 30 gallon tank. I'm only using it for a few hours out of the day, mainly when I'm not there. When I am there, you can definitely here this pump. It does not seem very quiet so I wouldn't suggest putting it somewhere where you want quiet. Otherwise it seems to be working great so far (less than a month ownership)

Great air pump
Great air pump. The best I ever used in my fish tanks. I have 4 tanks and I have Marina Air Pump in all of them. the 100 work sperfect for my 30, 48, 55, 75 gallons tanks. Very silence and powerful.

Great for the price
Works fantastic. Very small, so don't expect elaborate special effects coming from your tank. It does what is supposed to. I wouldn't recommend running several air accessories by teeing it off. It doesn't seem that it could produce much with that. Get one with a few outlets and a bit higher of power for that. I'm running a 12" bar air stone and it looks just great. My turtles love it.

Four Stars
still going strong after 3 years.Quiet little pump with consistent performance. I leave this running 24x7x365.Taking 1 star off from 5 stars because the rubber feet have dried up and broken off.
