Preperation is ALWAYS the key
I needed to repair a badly damaged bathtub and after careful research, and many positive reviews, I decided on AquaFinish. I have painted just about everything from cars to houses to machinery and the key is ALWAYS preparation, if you want a professional finish. Follow the instructions to a "T" and you should have great results yourself. I scrubbed the tub down with cleanser twice, scraped it with the provided razor then scrubbed it again. Then came the sanding and wash down. I left it to fully dry overnight then wiped the entire tub down with acetone. (porcelain tub, don't do this with a fiberglass tub) After masking off and one final wipe down with a lint free rag, I rolled on the first coat. You need plenty of ventilation and I always wear my spray paint filter mask regardless. In a closed bathroom the fumes can be noxious. With the second coat about 25 minutes later, tub came out beautifully! I spent close to 4.5 hours just getting the tub prepped for only about 30 minutes of painting time total but the results are worth it. DON'T get in a hurry and you will have great results

Started fine... (Updated)
I purchased this after a failed attempt with a different product from a different manufacturer. The tub was prepped, primed, washed, and tacked. I applied the first coat and it went on great. I started applying the second coat after a few hours, and shortly into this process things started going south. The new roller (supplied in the kit) started molting and leaving traces of itself behind. The roller also was not rolling, it was somewhere between rolling and dragging, not doing a great job with the finish. I initially tried pulling the individuals fibers out of the finish as they were left and going back over that spot, but with the number of fibers left, and bubbles left in the finish, I soon abandoned this plan. Now it's back to sanding and trying to add a top coat with some other product, to try and get a decent finish. I will now pay someone to do this in the future if I should ever have the need. ****************UPDATE (9/8/13)******************* About a week after I wrote the above review, I was contacted by a representative regarding my less-than-favorable review of the Aquafinish Refinishing Kit. They asked if I had received the replacement kit and stated that they had received a cheaper batch of rollers. They have since (based upon my review) replaced the rollers with the better quality rollers. I was also asked since they immediately took care of my problem, if I would kindly raise my rating of them to three or four stars. Well, I never received the new kit and followed up with an email stating such after another week. I also stated that I did not feel that I could raise my rating due to not being "taken care of". Within a day they responded and stated that they sent the replacement kit to another gentleman bearing the same first name as me, and that I would have to raise their rating prior to receiving any refund. The gist of this email has since been repeated in another email....changed review=full refund. The problem I had with the kit revolved entirely around the second roller and it sounds as though they have "fixed the glitch". My review has been changed...full refund?

Worked great prep is everything.
Prep' prep' prep. Worked very well but did a bleach cleaning, two acid washes, and sanded twice before applying. Also removed the drain beauty ring and the overflow did not tape. This way the coating did not leave places at the drain and the overflow for pealing to start and create premature failing of the system. It has been 3 months and looks like new. We clean it with non abrasive cleaners only. Sprays and Soft Scrub no Comet's or Ajax. Follow directions, over prep, and remove drain hardware would be my advice. Also wear a respirator when applying. The fumes are not as bad as some epoxies but a respirator is needed.

I will say it was very easy to apply the finish
I bought this a few months ago and refinished my bathtub around the same time. I waited to do a review to see how the finish holds up. I followed the directions included as well as some others I found online. I will say it was very easy to apply the finish. I had two problems with this product the first is you only get one foam brush for corners, and if you do the two coats as suggested, which I did, the brush is unusable the next day. The second problem was that the foam rollers broke off at the tip before I had finished the project. This left little bits of foam all over my tub, this wasn't a problem for the first coast since I was able to sand it down to a smooth finish, but the second coat I missed some of the bits and they are now in the tub. I know for next time to get extra rollers incase it happens again. My tub looks amazing, minus the little bits here and there. I am not sure if I did not apply evenly enough, but there are some spots where the old color kind of shows through. I am not going to blame this on the product itself as the majority of the tub looks brand new. This could be to my inexperience or the fact that my tub was in really bad shape before I refinished it. The finish is holding up very well in the three months that it has been on. I have cleaned it several times and never had any wipe or chip off. I am satisfied with this product and will be purchasing it again in the future.

Bad brush, too much orange peel from roller
This is the 2nd time we have refinished a tub. The first kit was less than 30.00 at a local hardware store. I ordered this one thinking it would be better because of the price. Time will tell if the paint is better. The brush is cheap and bristles fall out while using it. Not a great idea if you want a smooth finish. We also found that the roller creates a bit of an orange peel effect, that does not smooth out. I would probably not purchase this again simply because of the applicators.

Great product!
Ordered a double kit for one of my rentals. The kit had everything needed to do the job. Previous posts about the rollers were helpful so we were prepared for that. As long as you clean the surfaces properly and keep moving with the roller it will turn out fine. Could I get a better finish by calling a resurfacing company? Probably....but this didn't cost me 450.00 for just the tub (what I was quoted by a local company). Will definitely be a repeat buyer for future rentals!

Foam rollers fall apart using this product
Just like a few previous reviews, my only complaint is that the foam rollers supplied by the manufacturer start to fall apart as soon as you begin first coat application. Foam rollers are not the right tool for this product – it is literally too sticky instantaneously and tears apart the roller. There are better rollers on the market specifically for enamel coatings, so the manufacturer should either send the appropriate high-quality rollers in the kit or tell people in the instructions to buy the right kind. The mess that torn up foam roller left on my first coat could only be fixed the next day by sanding out the crumbs of foam, which created unnecessary work and waste of time. Product itself works great but do not use the foam rollers-you’re better off with a quality paint brush.

Worth the money, follow directions and don't be lazy on sanding and clean up after sanding
This was done on a clawfoot bathtub. Application was easy, albeit I didn't find the instructions to mix the two cans together but I did figure it out beforehand. I read complaints about the foam roller so I bought extras and glad I did. I actually had enough to apply 3 coats rather than the 2 so it covered nicely
