these are great for marking stud's / I do have a much stronger one but these work just as well and with having multiples you can mark the whole wall .

Really Strong Magnet
Purchased this to recover a wrench that I dropped down an aluminum channel. It was about 36" from the top and I had nothing on hand to retrieve it. I was at first disappointed, because the GrabbitsStick, while extendable with a rotating head, is not flexible and would not travel down inside the channel to the wrench because the opening to the channel is restricted. After thinking it through, I decided to see if the magnet would draw through the aluminum. So I placed the GrabbitStick magnet on the outside of the channel at the bottom ... success! I heard a gratifying thunk as the magnet grabbed the wrench on the other side. I was able to slide the wrench up the channel to the point where I could pluck it out with my fingers. Oh ... and two bolts came up with the wrench. A good plus. Recommend this to anyone trying to fetch anything magnetic. Beware, though - it's not flexible.
