This is a proper tool for the professional.
Bigger and slightly less effective as a felling axe than the Council tool USFS Pulaski. However, I believe it to be better as a general line tool for cutting roots, grubbing and clearing saplings with the adse. It is very effective for delimbing overhead and pulling down stubborn snags. The steel is very good and the wood is select in quality and far better than anything you you are likely to find in a box store. I would be equally confident in being handed either a USFS Pulaski or the Rogue product; however, I am confident that each stroke of the Rogue will do just a little more work. Working with a sawyer, I would choose the Rogue product every time.

Great tool
Very heavy. But built strong. Got a little worn blade in shipping as the cardboard protector cover popped off

Solid firefighting handtool
Working as a wildland firefighter I’ve used the prohoe quite a bit already this spring for fireline construction. I bought this because of the long handle and larger adz/hoe compared to the usfs issue Pulaski. It is noticeably heavier than expected but takes less effort to dig/cut. I gave 4/5 because right out of the box the handle was loose and had quite a bit of slop in the head of the tool where extend use like this would probably break the handle. A simple fix with some epoxy and 2 bolts was all it took to make it a solid firefighting tool I trust.

A True Trail Tool
When I bought this I was concerned because the only handle length available was the shortest at 40". Turn out this is an excellent length for the work I have been doing building and maintaining MTB trails. Being the shorter length also cuts down a bit on the total heft of the tool which can wear on you if you're carrying it for four miles on broken terrain. OTOH the heft of the head really helps the edges do there jobs. One caveat--You will get a lot of side-eye from the families out for a Sunday stroll when they see you heading down the trail carrying this beast.

Fantastic product and very heavy duty
Cleared about a mile of PNW forest trail with it. Fantastic product and very heavy duty. I use it for blackberries, roots, prying rocks out of the soil and moving downed logs. My favorite trail building tool.
