Are they good for holding wood in place while sawing?

These are great. Made well and are perfect for clamping wood. However, if Youre sawing wood then you need to use a "Bench clamp" or vice. clamps of this type are meant for holding wood together whilst gluing etc! The wood may slip if you don't use the correct method of holding it. Much as these clamps are great, they're just not for the job you're looking to do. I suggest you type in "Black and decker workmate" & this will be just what you need. Hope this helps.

Are these good to fix broken kitchen drawer to hold sides together whilst wood glue goes off?

I doubt the 300mm ones would open wide enough to clamp the sides of a drawer in place (the max gap between the jaws is about 230mm) but if you can find longer ones that do open wide enough then they would be ideal.

Is it possible to purchase just one red/orange plastic clamp pieces as these fall off quite easily and I have lost one?

Cheap enough to have more! Also you can never have enough clamps

I don't have any Irwin clamps but the method of operation is the same. They are good for temporary light-pressure quick-application jobs but proper screw-mechanism G clamps provide a stronger and more permanent pressure.
