It ACTUALLY WORKS for removing HDCP on PS3! Don’t waste your money on ebay boxes or anything else. Get this now while it works! With a Retrotink the picture difference is really worth the trouble. Don’t settle for component! This gets it looking just right. Also do NOT output PS3 settings from 720. Some people & google says the Retrotink upscales better from 720 than 1080. It absolutely does NOT! Set PS3 to output 1080 then let the Retrotink upscale.

I buy a whole bunch of these little converter boxes, this is by far the highest build quality I've ever gotten. Additionally this is the greatest way to fix encryption error on the PS3 at 1080p 60 hertz. the PS3 cannot output more than that meaning that this is the absolute best solution for streaming your PlayStation 3 I would only ever recommend this product. as another commenter said make sure you get the right one I purchased the u9 viewHD 2 Port 1x2.

Ok, so my streaming setup consists of 2 PCs (Gaming PC w 3 monitors, and Streaming PC with an internal Magewell Pro Capture HDMI Card). My Gaming PC needs to send a video signal my main gaming monitor, AND to the capture card in my Streaming PC. The U9 ViewHD VHD-1x2MN3D does just that, and completely bypasses HDCP. My capture card even had no issues capturing Prime Videos from my purchased movies library. So, it definitely bypasses HDCP, BUT... I don't know if my product arrived defective or what, but I'm ever playing a video on my main gaming monitor (the monitor receiving its video signal via the splitter) and try to fullscreen it, there is some sort of handshaking issue that briefly occurs. The monitor will go black for about 1-2 seconds before reconnecting. It'll happen again when unfullscreening the video. The video has to be playing. A paused video does nothing. So, to be specific, I have 3 monitors connected to my Gaming PC, and 1 of them is receiving its video signal via the splitter. The fullscreen black-out issue ONLY happens when fullscreening a running video on the monitor using the splitter. Does not happen on the other monitors. So the issue absolutely lies with the splitter. I don't know if the splitter is crashing, or having some sort of EDID issue—I suspect not because I later bought and tested a "CMSTEDCD HDMI EDID Emulator Manager 4K Prophecy" before and after the Splitter in the signal chain and the blackouts still occurred. I can't seem to figure it out. I'm going to assume it's defective, return it, get another, and hope the next one doesn't have this issue. I never tested the audio side of things, but the video quality is great. ================ ==== VERDICT ==== ================ Other than the temporary (1-2sec) blackouts ONLY when fullscreening/un-fullscreening videos, everything seemed to be perfect. So, if you can live with that minor inconvenience, I'd actually say that this is worth getting!

I really love this device and I hope they keep making it. I have bought two of these and they are very necessary for what I need them for. A lot of consumer electronics today talk to each other. And at least one of the pieces of information that they share with each other is whether media that is being played on them is copyrighted. If so, then they will not pass the copyrighted media data between them. I am very much for protecting copyrights. However, when I produce a video that has my copyright it will not let me play that as well. At my church, we live stream our church service and we have procured the license for all of the music that is played in the live stream production. I have not problems there. However, when my church asks me to create a video about some event at the church, I should be able to play it in the live stream since I own the copyrights. However, there is no facility between the devices to ask me to enter some code to play my videos. It just does not play anything with a copyright. This was a great try to stop piracy, but sorry no cigar will be awarded. But one day, in a review about this item, I was told that it does not allow the devices to communicate. Thus, they do not realize the media has a copyright and I can play my videos without a problem. Other devices like this allow the communications. This is the only one I have found that does not. Therefore, if you are having this problem, please put one of these devices between your electronic devices and then just obey the copyright laws with stuff that you do not have the right to display. I hope some day they will fix the communications between the devices to allow the users of the devices to indicate whether they have the right to show the media.

I bought this device so I could get around hdcp. At first, I couldn't get around hdcp and was planning on returning it. However I did some more research and found out how it does get around it. Unfortunately,it's not documented anywhere. To get around Hdcp, you have to connect output 1 permanently to a Hdcp complaint device first, then output 2 will be the signal that bypasses hdcp

Easy set up, works on ps3 to external capture card

After waiting so long for the splitter to get here and paying more then most of the other splitters, it still didn't strip the HDCP to let me stream ps3 games. I saw multiple reviews saying people were able to do this...but I still wasn't.

My old, really poor quality home VHS tapes were triggering copy protection on my HDMI capture device. With the 1x2 1080p 3D model of this device in the middle, I was able to digitize all my VHS tapes.
