This is an excellent rod I use nothing but Shakespeare rods specifically Ugly Stik this particular Rod I use for catfishing so I can hit the holes where the fish are I put heavy weight and I use the 7 foot length to make sure I get that out there and so far it hasn't disappointed me it was built heavier than I thought it would be now that is not a problem for me but it might be for someone else the handle is longer and it uses double footed eyes which just means it's heavy duty the only problem I really had was the packaging was destroyed by the time it got to me it look like everybody tried to smash it I would recommend Amazon work on their packaging a little better especially for fishing rods luckily there was no damage but it is something to over concern and when I saw the package I was worried that the rod was damaged and it wasn't thank God these rods are not cheap but they're very very useful especially if you're a bank fishing as I am I will be ordering one of these again and I recommend this product it's very good

I purchased this fishing rod along with a KastKing reel (both from Amazon) and the pair cost less than $100, and I am very impressed by the performance of both! I just caught a 25-pound Snook using 17-lb test line and the fish was a ferocious fighter, but the rod held up and performed perfectly allowing me to land my biggest one yet! Great value and great fishing pole! Don't know how durable the pole is, but will come back to this review if it doesn't last to my satisfaction.

One of the best poles and also affordable.. can sling a weighted bait very far if you like deep waters!! It can also be used for Crappie! Super satisfied!

Im a beginner at fishing and so is my 5 year old son but we both like this rod. Paired it with a kast king reel. Looking to add another rod and reel for this year. Will buy again.

Let's call it is, this is not a St Croix or a bull Bay rod, but at the same time it's only $40. For the price there is no better fishing rod available. This thing will just keep going and going and going. Virtually indestructible and it can handle pretty much anything you're going to catch if you're not offshore. Great for the rivers canals even light surf fishing. My gx2 has landed Snook Sheepshead Reds trout flounder and anything else you could imagine. It has been stepped on slammed in car doors thrown in truck beds.. virtually indestructible. Whether you're a beginner intermediate or seasoned fisherman it's always good to have one or two of these in your stable. Look at this way too, if something were to happen to it it wouldn't be the end of the world it's only 40 bucks

The GX2 is versatile for a med/heavy rod. I have some m/h rods that are rated heavier than the GX2 specs and can't be used with my lighter lures, not the case here. I feel the rod has as a good amount of sensitivity for the price, I feel the thud, whether it's a 3/4 pounder or an 8-pound largemouth (opps...Florida) bass. I'm not the most gentile person with my gear at times however I have never broken an Ugly.... yet

Bought the 7' medium heavy, fast, (8-20 lb), 1pc Ugly Stick for twitching Salmon jigs in the Kitimat River. Performs amazing! With braided line, the rod provides great feedback and it's light enough to fish all day.
